As someone who is not much of a board gamer and has Tumblr osmosis levels of Mass Effect knowledge - I had SO MUCH FUN. Wrex nearly got to kill four mobs in a single turn.

Purely from a design standpoint, it’s impressive how much material and structure they managed to fit in the one box.

A Mass Effect mission board with two player figures (male Shepard and Wrex) and a few enemy counters. The mission boss has been defeated. The game master is reading from the plot book.

“Take a moment to think before you dive in. That’s the best advice for Google Photos users, as the company confirms its latest update can scan all your photos to “use actual images of you and your loved ones” in AI image generation.”

If you wanna inject some positivity into this world, my request to you is:

If you like a creative person (artist, musician, craftsperson, literally anything), tell them you like their stuff. Doesn't have to be me, in fact I'd prefer it if it wasn't, but you'll make their day, I promise.

So of course you have a combustible situation: An AI industry promising to eliminate jobs (or worse), a generation with withering opportunities, and an attack by ascendent oligarchy on an already barely-functioning democracy. What do you think is going to happen?

Orban achieved a level of authoritarian consolidation unthinkable here and they still successfully got rid of him. Never let the doomers have the final say.

a screenshot of an instagram post by user astro_christina, showing the moon in space, mostly dark but with light behind it and on a little crescent of it on the left-hand side. text reads "The most ominous thing I've ever loved. It wasn't just an eclipse with the Sun hidden behind the Moon...we could also see earthshine, the Sun's light reflecting off Earth, wrapping the Moon in a soft, borrowed glow."

Unrelatedly -- I love that Christina Koch put this up on her social media and I'm like "That is a BANGER short story title and/or first line of a poem (or last line of a poem)"

What's the most ominous thing you've ever loved?

This whiplash where the president terrifies the world for a few days with unhinged threats and then says “never mind” and then there’s this implication that anyone scared of his unhinged threats was overreacting is very domestic abuse but make it a country.

**gently grabs your face**

Listen, the world is full of so many horrors--things out of our direct control. We do what we can, as we can. But there's no magick button labeled Fix This Now.

It's important to reach toward joy. Take your meds. Have a snack. Make plans. Laugh. Look at the damn moon.
