“Gerald Talbot has spent his life fighting so that people in Portland could find a place to live. The city put his name on a school to honor that legacy. I can’t think of a better way to dishonor it than to stand next to that school & tell 50 families that they’re not welcome.” @ashuttl.bsky.social
If you want to avoid sprawl, you should support density. I’d so much rather a 50-unit building go up in a vacant lot than 50 standalone homes on several acres of open land.
I can understand that. But living in a society requires making compromises for your fellow human. The process that led to this development was fair and democratic, and a few noisy people shouldn’t have the right to veto decisions made for the common good.
I’m not sure what your point is. And I want nature too. That’s why I live in Maine. I just also want people who need homes to be able to find and afford them.
Population growth is not the reason for the housing crisis. People like the Friends of Riverton are. And something tells me people in Maine will never have trouble finding peace and quiet, even in big old Portland.
This is FIERCE.
Proud of my dear old friend for speaking up in this matter with such forceful clarity of heart and mind.

How dare Al Green disrespect the dignity and honor of a speech threatening our allies
As goes Maine, so does the nation. This Is a grant that provided $15.64 in value for every $1 This will hurt every coastal community in Maine.

I listened to a podcast tonight with New Yorker writers comparing her to Margaret Chase Smith versus McCarthy. Good going Janet elevating your place in history overnight!
I am ready and willing to serve in my governor Janet Mills’s army.
If we have enough people with the knowledge and moral fortitude of Maine Governor Janet Mills, and the Associated Press- we might be able to save our Democracy
I had three notifications from an app on my iPhone: two in English and one in Chinese. I was surprised to find Apple Intelligence included the meaning of the Chinese one as part of its English-language summary.

In the past week my five-year-old daughter has asked me “is that a dash or a hyphen?” and “what is a comma for?” I was apparently much more ready to be a parent than I knew.
