AMAZING NEWS!
Bendigo's bid in the www.vic.gov.au/victorian-wo... was successful. Barbara Rae - the captain of the winning team and highest scorer from my book Bowl the Maidens Over will be commemorated with a sculpture.
My book brought this story to life and Barbara is finally being recognised.

I was in Bendigo the other day. The council have applied for funding to commemorate Barbara Rae with a monument to sit at the QE Oval. We will find out in February if the application was successful. It’s a beautiful country town.

Alison, thanks so much for the share! If it wasn't for the pioneering women in 1874, maybe we wouldn't have the women's Ashes today. Glad you're enjoying the story!

Thanks @tananarivedue.bsky.social - this is a huge help. (PS I loved The Reformatory and loved you explaining what inspired you to write it.)

Oh this is super! Everyone I used to connect with in the other space is coming here. Be nice to have a place all us writers and likeminded people converge. We were scattered to the wind for a while.

Possum-proofing the lettuces. Those little buggers like their leafy greens. They demolished my silverbeet and beetroot.
