it's a fundamentally flawed design that trusts the player way more than it should (and I think they integrated what would normally be FTE content into V3's script proper). but it bums me out how many people refuse to engage with it or even acknowledge the intent

entire social mechanic. then they complain about how the characters are shallow. you weren't bothering to engage with them! of course you think they're shallow! the point is that's kind of how interpersonal relationships develop in real life—you have to actually invest in others

I like that a bunch of people play the game series where a big thesis is 'don't judge someone by who they are on the surface; everyone is fighting their own battles and you won't understand what they've been through unless you take the time to get to know them' just to ignore the ..
