I made a mini one and used the cardboard box the fan came in to support it. No need for extra materials. Just cut off the filters and stick new ones on!

It’s the downhill part that got me. Killed my knees.

Don’t worry about it. I was just curious as some design guides give worse figures for stone construction and air changes that have been measured in real life.

CFm or m3/s? (strange to use imperial and metric in the same unit)

Are the figures for the second calculation or after monitoring and testing?

Not at all!

Thanks. That makes sense - nuclear provides a more or less fixed output so gets a fixed price.

On days like today when nuclear generates more than gas, will nuclear end up setting the electricity price?

battery all done at the same time. Hoping to get mine installed this year with minimal works and costs (might go for a posh radiator in one room though).

The podcast is ‘better’ as there’s a testy discussion between Greg Jackson and Dale Vince including debate over COP, in ep 2.

I thought ep. 1 made out insulation upgrades were needed and that installation is complicated and expensive. They sole to a couple who had underfloor heating, CWI, solar and

Me in front of the Westin Grand hotel in Berlin.

If I ran a library, I’d ban a couple of those books too - but only because they are bad. I gave up halfway through one of the Bourne books, it was so awful! I love the films though!

2019-2020 Energy Use + Air Tightness Test + Smart Meters One of the ways houses lose heat is through draughts, otherwise know as uncontrolled ventilation by means of infiltration. Draughts happen in gaps in the building fabric, like at window openings, t…

No worries! There are different sources for assumptions for them both plus the reality. It’s interesting to see how they tie up. I know my air tightness test was much better than design assumptions. speedwellretrofit.wordpress.com/2022/11/18/2...

Just started ep. 2. I have a few bones to pick about ep. 1. Got 6 mins in before I shouted at the radio.

This 👇👇👇 The insulation level or age of your house makes no difference. Two heat pumps, both providing heating water at the same temperature with the same load will have the same efficiency regardless of one supplying a small, poorly insulated home and the other a large, well insulated home.

What U-values and air change/permeability rates were used initially?

The problem has been that heating oil was too cheap for people to consider switching to heat pumps. Unlike with gas where it was most likely cost neutral or better on running costs.

I have post concussion syndrome and have now been diagnosed with ME/CFS. There are so many overlapping symptoms. It seems that different original injuries can lead to the same dysfunction.

Also: Muslim 28% Christian 39%

Still none of those stats show a majority for Reform if people voted how Farage alleged.

Gordon and Denton statistics (ONS)
Economically active population: 53%.
Born in UK: 71%
White: 57%
Seems like Farage is grasping at invisible straws there.

I’m guessing the first day of spring - meteorological vs astronomical - is like the date of Easter - it depends on which denomination you are. I haven’t made my mind up yet which side I fall on.

Or we’ll just keep staring at the perpetual rain clouds in the UK.

It’s quite a scary outlay in one go though.

I Oct see comments that “electricity is 4x cost of gas, so it’s not worth it” on forums. 3.6 would be the worse case scenario, so it makes breaker even more likely (plus there’s further savings from getting off gas, if possible, obviously).

It would be good to see what the SCOP of a heat pump needs to be for breakeven vs gas boiler on the price cap.people often just look at the price ratio, forgetting to factor in gas boiler efficiency.

And healthier homes too.

There’s loads of good stuff coming out of Salford Uni’s Energy House project.

Thermal performance of thermal paint and surface coatings in buildings in heating dominated climates A purported approach to reducing heating energy in solid wall “hard to heat” housing is the simple application of a thin layer (< 1mm) of thermal paint...

Salford Uni looked at this salford-repository.worktribe.com/output/13699... Might be a better idea to replace current plaster with an insulating plaster like Diasen Thermalite.

Still have good memories of ham, pineapple and cheese pancakes from Dutch Pancake House in Manchester in the 80s.
