We've uncovered what might be the biggest case of petition fraud in NYC's history, and now I'm taking my opponent to court.

the Wrens version of "They'll Need a Crane" on this comp is one of the best covers ever. Shows the depth of the song on such an intense level.
That movement was met with expulsions, deportations, and violent repression under a democratic admin. And ultimately, did little to end the genocide. Those students are demoarlized and rightfully fearful of doing the same under an admin that has demonstrated it's willingness to murder protesters.
Fourth annual Grateful Dead night at the Red Room* is 4/18. Always a fun time! Come see if I alter one of the problematic lyrics or just go with it!

*the very excellent DIY venue for grownups in Bucktown I play at sometimes.
for no reason at all, here are 5 Chicago restaurants I think you should check out:
1. Loaf Lounge in Avondale
Best-in-class breakfast sandwiches, A++ sourdough and pastries from extremely cool people. Their specials are also always fantastic and inventive!
the placeholder storefronts in the new rendering including "Tranquil Medspa" and "Salads and More" kinda says it all.
5. Giant in Logan Square
One time we ate here, there was this couple next to us that was having this awful, probing, break-up level fight. They kept on stopping midway through these edge-of-tears, finger-pointing sentences to comment on how delicious the food was. Dinner and a show!
4. Rubi’s Tacos in Pilsen
These are my favorite tacos in Chicago. Everything always tastes extremely fresh, and the homemade tortillas are the best in town.
3. Omarcito’s Latin Cafe in Logan Square
Everyone around here knows that Omar is the most gregarious and welcoming front of house person in the business, but it'd be worth going here regardless, the food is that good. Some of the most flavorful bites you will find anywhere.
2. Zeitlin's Delicatessen in Lincoln Park
I've been eating their bagels at the farmers market for years, which are for my money, the best in town. They opened their first storefront last fall with an expanded menu and its all outstanding. Go and see if you can find my family's picture on the wall!

at this point, I don't even want them to squeak into the playoffs. they don't deserve it.
one has to wonder who gets to be the arbiter of who is jewish or not... something that many jews can't even agree on
The Fight Between Carnival and Lent by Pieter Bruegal the Elder ca 1559
Lawrence 1912—The Bread and Roses Strike by Ralph Fasanella ca 1977

my favorite genre of painting is "lots of small people doing stuff"

I always thought that about Deadwood too
New tank puppy dropped!
If you need a pick me up today, listen to this new album by Wyatt Waddell (maybe the most talented music maker I know in Chicago and someone who should be famous)

I feel you alex. I have been vocally advocating for Palestinian liberation since I was in high school... and yet that has no barring on the fact that my kids' jewish daycare needed to hire armed guards last week.
I would put "Israel made him do it" in lead position on this one.
And as you know, these attacks on "Israel" or "(((Israel)))" will just be internalized by Israel's defenders both there and in the diaspora as further justification for its violence. And the cycle continues forever...
Chicagoans: still have your Vote By Mail ballot? You have until 7:00pm on Election Day (March 17) to return it to ANY of 52 Secure Drop Boxes across the city! To find the most convenient location for you, go to: chicagoelections.gov/voting/drop-... 🗳

A friend of mine is leading a pre-No Kings puppet making workshop next weekend in Albany Park. They are planning on making a ton of butterfly puppets for the chalk the walk and other events:

TIL that Claussen’s pickles are brined and packed in Woodstock, IL. No factory tours, sadly.
