Why does no one talk about how ugly NJ Transit trains look? Electrified trains and brand new trains and they still look like they came out of the 70s.

I have my PLAN478 (Transit Planning and Operations) exam tomorrow and my biggest takeaway from all the content is…if the senior planners and VPs of Metrolinx took this course, we wouldn’t be building shitty transit. I mean almost everything we’ve done atp is basically what not to do. It’s pretty sad

There was definitely lobbying involved in this…

This rendering was from 6 YEARS AGO. Jeez the city’s been dragging their feet.

Just a reminder that THIS is what we were supposed to get. Now staff are watering down an already watered down plan

No ambition, no courage, and not even listening to the thousands of people who’ve asked for pedestrianized spaces in the city. Instead, Yonge will be car-choked.

We will raise hell.

Road Design: Alignment
Cross-Sections
• Roadway: two lanes totaling 6.6 metres wide
• Furnishing and Planting Zone: ~2.7 metres wide
• Pedestrian Clearway: ~4.0 metre pedestrian clearway
• Cycle Track: between College Street and Gerrard Street
• Addition of signalized pedestrian crossing between
McGill Street and College Park

Streetscaping: Design Segments
The Green Gateway, Innovation, and Performance/Retail
Segments can be enhanced by adding streetscaping features
such as street furniture, public art, and greenery, examples
below:
Green Gateway
By adding more trees create green
corridors that link existing park
spaces throughout the area. This
provides comfortable places for
people to gather and spend time
along this busy, high-density
roadway.
Innovation
Improved connections between
Yonge Street and TMU provide
opportunities for collaboration and
programming.
Performance / Retail
Yonge Street is strengthened as a
cultural hub, with flexible spaces
for public art and small
performances that can adapt to
events and bring people together.

Concerning new documents out for YongeTOmorrow that seems much less focused on pedestrianization.

The project originally envisioned having portions of Yonge between College and Queen be at least partially pedestrianized.

I don’t think Ford really cares what the city wants. Even if we did had a vision, the province would just do their own thing.

I still wish it was as easy as that. Almost feel like I was born in the wrong time.

It can feel like I’m the only one who’s ready and yearning for a relationship while everyone I ask out my age is still figuring things out, taken or unsure on what they want.

It’s frustrating to put it lightly.

I was thinking if there was this much demand, they need way more bike share in the region.

Interchanges like here (Eglinton) are going to be awful and I think a lot of people are already thinking when we’re going to see the next trains that can actually handle the loads and most importantly, circulation and egress.

(From doors opening to train departing, it was around 1min 30s.)

I feel like Toronto’s regretting having a vehicle that constrains the flow of passengers this bad. Single doors means one at a time. Getting off the train is also nearly impossible at busy times. There’s just very little circulation.

This was from opening day. Imagine during actual rush hour.

I was hoping for a tad more colour. The colours I saw for the station name accent were Orange and then Gray…Dark Gray…and Black. I wanted a bit more colour and the walls are totally sterile. Just needs something other than the all white.

I literally almost missed my connecting bus that’s only every 20 minutes.

Holy shit the Eglinton Line stopped at EVERY FREAKING SIGNAL 🤬

We got to a stop, we stopped for a lot of time, by the time we depart, the next signal is red. We wait for cross traffic, then we wait for the left turning traffic, then we go, then we stop to pick up passengers. It’s ridiculous.

Yeah, it was a pain and super slow to get off the train at Eglinton. It was basically single file.

This is going to make egress so slow and annoying at interchange stations.

Clearly this was not thought of when they decided on the rolling stock.

Unicycles only.

Yeah, it’s mainly many of the bike lanes and cycle tracks I see that have not been cleared. The multi-use paths have been cleared. But alas, my experience has mostly been by the university.

Have you noticed the snow clearing’s been awful this season in KW? It’s usually really good but the bike lanes and cycle tracks are just not cleared. Definitely discouraged me from taking my bike out.

Yeah, there is so much to takeaway here in terms of the idea of flow.

You don’t need to, you need to convince the premier.

3 months ago 2 0 2 0

Yeah, and the city’s proactively implementing quick build curb extensions everywhere.

Daylighting is not an issue in Canada like it is in the US.

I have so much to say about my time here in CDMX. The urban planning, the transportation systems and complete streets.

Shits on Toronto any day. Our politicians are cowards.

Just finished an internship at a relatively small transit agency in Ontario. It was actually quite informative and eye-opening. Happy to answer any questions.
