you see the dregs of this in both Warhammer 40k and Star Trek, the idea that telepathy was not just theoretically possible but destined to be proved real was huge in the 70s / early 80s and it colored a lot of sci-fi

Those scythe skeletons look exactly like the ones from an old version of HeroQuest, just a bit larger and more detailed, but identical proportions and design. And no paint, which these are amazingly done.

Ben Riggs was just noting that Jon Peterson moved up the timeline on the fateful visit--when Arneson brought Blackmoor and Megarry brought Pasha Cada and introduced both to Gygax for the first time in person--to early '73 instead of the end of '72....
