Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.
Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.
They are not the same.

Ettingermentum writes: “Actually what on earth is in those files bro.” The image from Courier Newsroom headline reads: “Rep-elect Adelita Grijalva is now the longest Rep-elect in history to not be sworn in. Mike Johnson still refuses to swear in Rep-elect Grijalva over fear of releasing the Epstein files.” The picture shows Grijalva in a red jacket beside Speaker Mike Johnson.
Swear her in. Release the Epstein Files.
REV. BLACK (who was shot in the head with a pepper ball): “If this is what they’re doing to pastors, journalists, teachers, mothers, and the elderly gathered to sing and pray outside ICE facilities… what might they be doing to our neighbors who are behind those walls?”
Raskin: "It's not lost on anyone that shutting the government down allows them not swear in our new colleague, Ms Grijalva from Arizona, who would be the 218th signature to discharge the Epstein files and to put a vote on that on the House floor."
NEW: Rachel Maddow drops unseen bodycam footage of feds coordinating the arrest of Newark Mayor Baraka.
I REPEAT: the feds ordered his arrest even though he wasn’t breaking any laws.
Federal agent: “We are arresting the mayor right now per the Deputy Attorney General of the United States.”
I remind you that Kirk was NOT an elected official or official of any kind.
The fact that TACO made a statement about his death, while remaining silent about the assassination of Melissa Hortman speaks volumes.
I also know of no protocol whatsoever to lower the United States flag for the
Charlie Kirk started the Professor Watchlist, which caused friends of mine and their families to be terrorized by right-wing assholes. So, you know, fuck everyone trying to find some nugget of decency in that shitpile.
i’m not going to be lectured about political violence by people whose politics is violence

The party of small government is currently advocating for federal troops and members of the military to patrol the streets and detain citizens.
And the GOP fluffers on social media are just… fine with that?
Koh: If he were serious about cutting crime he wouldn't be proposing cutting $400 million from the ATF or cutting $500 million from the FBI, 700 agents or the DEA with with drug enforcement or the office of violence against women, 100 million from there
Trump: We're going to be adding a magnificent ballroom—most beautiful ballroom, I think, anywhere. We need it.
Meiselas: We need it? No, we literally don’t. We need health care. We need affordable housing. We need an end to wars. We need peace in Gaza. We don’t need a ballroom.
Raskin: In any event, if he really cared about public safety in DC… he would not have pardoned 1600 insurrectionists and violent cop beaters on his first day in office.
BREAKING: EXCLUSIVE: Senator Whitehouse asked the BOP for Ghislaine Maxwells sex offender waiver, custody level, transfer code, and security point score. I have them. She's also been granted the ability to leave the facility for work assignments. My latest: www.muellershewrote.com/p/exclusive-...
First it was troops in L.A., sent to provoke and assault peaceful protesters under the banner of “immigration enforcement.” Now it’s troops in our capital to disappear the homeless. See the pattern? Sooner or later, the monster comes for us all.
Of many offensive things about the gold ballroom is this fucking Orange grifter is using our money for gold - do you think actual gold is going into the White House and not Marashitbox? He doesn’t even like to be in DC. He’s gon’ go off with his Qatari jet & a ballroom full of gold as America burns.
Article I Sections 9 & 10 of the U.S. Constitution—which limit presidential power over tariffs and protect habeas corpus—have disappeared from Congress’s website. They claim a coding error is to blame.
If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages
weird how the guy born into obscene wealth, bailed out repeatedly, allowed to fail upwards forever until he fell ass-backwards into the presidency, and then was declared by the Supreme Court to be a Very Special Boy Who Can Crime Forever never stops whining about how everything is rigged against him
USA TODAY: “.. The president is wildly unpopular, and he is creating a crueler version of America that a sizable majority of voters reject.”

Daniel got arrested for putting a know your rights table.
LAPD this is so unnecessary and uncalled for. This is tyranny at the city level.
The DeSantis administration has not made public a list of names of the immigrants held at the facility in heavy duty tents at an airstrip in the Florida Everglades. Individuals sent to the makeshift detention center do not show up in an online government database that allows the public to search for immigrant detainees' whereabouts. Lawyers say they have had difficulty locating clients sent to the site, often learning that they are there when detainees call family members.
An enforced disappearance is considered to be the arrest, detention, abduction or any other form of deprivation of liberty by agents of the State or by persons or groups of persons acting with the authorization, support or acquiescence of the State, followed by a refusal to acknowledge the deprivation of liberty or by concealment of the fate or whereabouts of the disappeared person, which place such a person outside the protection of the law (Article 2 of the ICPED and Preamble of the Declaration on the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance) It is characterized by three cumulative elements (defined in A/HRC/16/48/Add.3): 1. Deprivation of liberty against the will of the person; 2. Involvement of government officials, at least by acquiescence; 3. Refusal to acknowledge the deprivation of liberty or concealment of the fate or whereabouts of the disappeared person.
Florida is committing "enforced disappearance," a very serious violation of international human rights law.

Instead of being solely preoccupied with unnecessary foreign wars, maybe we should have spent more time worrying about the United States government going to war against its own people.
