Back in 1997, when Moon Child was about to be released, Flash had just been introduced by Macromedia (pre-Adobe), and I made a simple site with it for The Games Department, our semi-independent game development division of a Dutch media company called Valkieser, where we developed Moon Child. 🙂

Telling queer stories and representing queer characters is done because people want those things, from both the creators and audience there is a demand for those stories and characters, not because of a lack of agency on their part or some insidious other party exerting pressure.
There's an underlying conspiratorial belief with the "anti-woke" crowd that game developers are being forced to write queer characters or stories, it's just another serving of barely reheated "cultural marxism" really, but there's nobody forcing anything, it's not being pushed down anyone's throats.
This is a rather incredible window into a reactionary mindset, because Daniel Vávra seems like he genuinely wanted to tell a story that included a gay romance subplot in spite of pushback, but refuses to extend that understanding to other writers and developers who also want to tell their stories...
