totally; I think some of it comes from losing the ironic humour of referring to periods of time in business terms for non-business things (eg the joke of referring to spring as the end 'Q1')

Yup this is my qualm with it, too! Cameras shape and direct how to see something. Live theatre is a single wide-view, as you choose how you want to focus on the scene. I think there are so many moments where the close-ups forced you to look where I didn't want to be in that moment!

Bahahah I wrote a whole letterboxd review about exactly this. Could not staaannnd it, and I'm baffled that it was the stage director who headed production on the proshot, no idea why she'd want to prioritise closeups as much as she did!

Ian Mond, Locus: Slatter is a tremendous writer, with a body of work that puts her in the top echelon of contemporary fantasy authors. With AFD, she’s elevated those skills to another level giving us a work that isn’t just a cracking story richly told, but also connects at a personal intimate level.
