Are you still dreaming of dragons? Wishing for more time in Westeros? Let us know in the comments!
GAME OF THRONES became the most watched HBO series ever, leading to two spin-offs (at least so far), including the currently-airing HOUSE OF THE DRAGON and A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS. The show won 59 Emmys and an astonishing amount of other accolades, including three Hugo Awards and a Peabody.
Thanks to brilliant casting director Nina Gold, the series made stars out of several of its emerging leads, including Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Pedro Pascal – Gold’s genius can be felt in every bit part within the show’s massive ensemble.
Adapted from George R.R. Martin’s beloved, best-selling fantasy series by television creators David Benioff and DB Weiss, GAME OF THRONES of course became a global phenomenon, breaking boundaries for fantasy, action and adventure on television.
On this day in 2011, we flipped on HBO and entered Westeros for the very first time, with the debut of GAME OF THRONES.
We hope you find some time to see this incredibly powerful Gothic tale. Cheers to Taratoa and the entire cast and crew!
Taratoa developed MĀRAMA through the Black List x New Zealand Program, which included professional mentorship, lecture series and project development grants. MĀRAMA was even produced by two OTHER alums of the Black List x New Zealand Project: Rouzie Hassanova and Sharlene George!
Taratoa Stappard's MĀRAMA, which was developed as a part of the Black List x New Zealand Project back in 2021 and premiered at TIFF, arrives in theaters TODAY! Read @thathagengrrl.bsky.social's interview with Taratoa on Substack here: blcklst.substack.com/p/the-black-...

Are you an Anne Rice fan? Looking forward to seeing the vampire Lestat on tour when INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE returns this summer? Let us know in the comments!
Rice would go on to write thirteen Vampire Chronicles novels, as well as dozens of other boundary-breaking, lush tales of horror and romance.
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE of course led to several also beloved film and television adaptations, including Neil Jordan’s 1994 take and the current AMC television series, which returns this summer.
Claudia, the novel’s tragic child vampire, was inspired by Rice’s own daughter, who passed away from leukemia at just five years old – the inclusion of Claudia gives the novel an incredibly personal resonance.
INTERVIEW would become the first book in Rice’s beloved Vampire Chronicles series, and introduce readers to beloved characters like Louis de Pointe du Lac and of course, the legendary vampire Lestat.
On this day in 1976, the modern vampire was reborn with the release of Anne Rice’s debut novel, INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE.
