New study finds that when a listener tunes out during in-person, but not video-call self-disclosure, the speaker’s physiological arousal spikes, signaling stress or social discomfort. With fewer social cues, speakers may be more tolerant of distracted listeners in virtual spaces.

Neat piece from the Guardian. As a full-time working parent, sounds familiar! It's gotten better as the kids are older, but I remember those days. I still at times feel I can't do either job—parent or professional—as well as I'd like. Challenge is the mountain of pressure we pile onto ourselves.
