I varnished two paintings with cold wax, and one with Matthew Bird's method. Good results and I'll share pics. For now I'll say that I prefer gloss varnish on gouache, and cold wax for watercolor.

I didn't follow this method, but it's similar to what I did.
It's time I varnish them and figure out whether I hang them in my home or sell them, even though I have no idea how to go about selling art. Although I am tempted to keep the green snake.

My first airbrush. I was worried that I would ruin the painting by spraying watercolor paint on dry layers of watercolor. I'm glad to say that it worked out. I'll show the final painting in the next post.

After a few thumbnails I develop the idea and take my own reference photos. Several hours later I completed the final drawing and transferred it to a hot press watercolor paper.

This is my first time painting on hot press watercolor paper. So far it's been really fun, a bit of a learning curve, and I think I like it more than cold press watercolor paper.

Castlevania is my favorite video game series, with Metroid a very close 2nd. Anyways, I also thought it was good, but do you wonder if it's losing some of its identity? Idk, maybe it's just me.
