hope I get laid off, so I can lay in my bed,
dreaming of freedom, not deadlines instead.
life’s a loop, work, sleep, repeat,
I crave a break, my soul’s defeat.

I’ve worn a hundred faces, none my own,
called a thousand places home.
But walls don’t hold what hearts can’t find,
a sense of place, a peace of mind.

So I wander, weightless, free,
chasing whispers, chasing me.
Home’s a dream I can’t yet see.

Fading pages

A long, long time ago,
I loved to learn, my mind aglow.
But now that spark has slipped away,
The books I loved just bring dismay.
The lectures drag, the passion’s gone,
I can’t recall where it went wrong.
So, bye-bye to the scholar’s high,
left wondering why.
