We were excited to catch up w/ an MLA Pathways grant winner from the U of Florida in the #MLA26 Innovation Room! The project—Comics and Community—is a workshop that helped transfer students visualize a future at UF and introduced them to the study of comics. More at news.ufl.edu/2025/07/comi...

The UF Comics and Community Summer Scholars Institute is happening this week! We are connecting students from local colleges with resources at UF, community stakeholders, and exploring what we do in humanities disciplines to facilitate transfer pathways. Having a blast! @margaretgalvan.bsky.social

Valuing the humanities means supporting Federal funding for the humanities. The humanities are not a luxury.

NEH & IMLS funded the $40K grant that we turned into a $3M Mellon grant that introduced 100s of faculty and 1000s of students at minority serving institutions to digital humanities. If I never did anything else professionally, I would be entirely satisfied with my career because of that. 💔
