No law enforcement officer operating in Connecticut—federal, state, or local—can wear a mask on duty. ICE and CBP agents have to show their faces and badges. And when an officer assaults someone recording them, commits false imprisonment, false arrest, or malicious prosecution, they lose immunity.

On April 10, a sunshine-filled spring day, about 50 community members attended a “Community Not Cameras” rally at Seattle City Hall Plaza. Tamales and flyers were being passed out to people who were there to call on Mayor Wilson to immediately turn off all surveillance cameras in the city.

SPOG is pressing Mayor Wilson for an increase in surveillance resources, despite 20 CCTV cameras set to be installed in the Stadium District ahead of the World Cup this June. For months, constituents have expressed the harm surveillance inflicts, with hopes of getting cameras turned off completely.
A group of survivors and family members of loved ones lost to police violence, as well as concerned community members, signed a letter to Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and the City Council demanding permanent and independent resources, and are encouraging others to join in this effort.
A community member found another camera installation that isn't on SPD's camera map. This one contains 5 separate cameras and is located at 12th and Pine attached to SPD's East Precinct.
