Spirit Airlines plane at EWR.

Spirit Airlines plane at EWR.

Taxiing out from EWR, this yellow bird crosses our path and I think: Better looking out the window of a UA plane and seeing Spirit than the other way around. It's not the seat pitch or the freshness of the lav that matters, but the skill of the pilots and mechanics. All else is negotiable.

No offense, that's not snow. This is snow. In the Jerz, over the weekend. And yes, that is bamboo. Somewhat burdened by the snow being wet.

A month ago we built a fire in the fireplace, snuggled up, streamed Home Alone, ... and Gwen gasped when she saw a younger Donald Trump doing his cameo in Home Alone. We just forgot that part.

Some religions judge your final place by how you lived your life. But then there are some preachers who...

You only incite people to judge you by the fanciness of the store bag and whether one is putting on airs.

And for the final number: "Before He Cheats."

Some jokes just suggest themselves. If I was doing the inaugural, Underwood would not be invited because you know the line gets used.

Julie: The other big world trend (beyond moving away from liberal to conservative) is away from grown-ups in charge.

It’s the aiming. It’s not LED technology. PS Are you getting old? Like over 40. Glare effects are worse when headlamps are mis-aimed.

Publicize banned books more and more. As the archbishop called out and “banned” racy movies. It had a huge impact.

As it should be. More homage and gifts for dogs.

Big Awl (did I pronounce it right?) is investing in clean energy because they know long-term, petroleum-based energy is problematic. The US is in the hot seat. We use more energy per person than any other country. @juliemason.bsky.social

Sununu to @juliemason.bsky.social “Somebody ought to give you a lesson in economics.” Factcheck to Chris: anybody can collect Social Security at 62 but get a lower payout the rest of their life. Or wait ‘til as late as 70. It all evens out around age 78. Start SS at 70, it can be $4K+ per month.

Waiting for betting sites to lay odds on the Hawk Tuah Girl getting a cabinet position. (She was just on Colbert.) If Don Jr. doesn’t move in first. He’s already moved down 20 years in GF-age. What’s another 20?

Or not. An old man who’s relinquished power, he has no power, there is no sport or glory in taking JB down. Why there’s no cow-hunting season.

You need to pick on somebody with ongoing Klout. Not say the Klout site.

You get on Smerconish and you’re an expert. Youre not on
Smerconish, or Julie’s show, then all you are is a guy arguing with a guy across the bar and don’t realize it’s your reflection in the bar mirror. Your point will still be valid.

Thursday POTUS Politics show: so listenable (Sumo shouting pols). So quotable, led by all-name team NC US Rep Wylie Nickel on whether Dems or Republicans are better at redistricting: “Republicans bring a gun to a knife fight.” @juliemason.bsky.social

@juliemason.bsky.social and her guests still show up more weeks than SNL, by a longshot. In times of certain national emergencies, a decent and compassionate president would order SNL back on the air, and conscript good guests into the studio for Roundup.

See accompanying photo by NYT’s Doug Mills. He has a Sony camera that only captures men in profile. He used to shoot sailboats with spinnakers

Are the same people working two jobs for 47? This NYT article by professional pot-stirrer @maggiehaberman.bsky.social describes Trump aide Natalie Harp. But last week wasn’t this Pam Bondi? Could they both really be Ivanka?

Which grandkids you might wind up living with if the economy goes south. Be nice to them. Hope you share the same politics with them over the years so Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t become a cultural battle. It’s bad enough arguing over jellied versus chopped cranberry relish so we serve both

Julie, Every couple of weeks, you have a show that outdoes the usual good work. Including Friday (11/22). Team Roundtable made points quickly, clearly, no wordy prefaces. Loved the snippy comment, How efficient can DOGE be if it needs two people at the top?

Scooters over time running red lights becomes — sadly — a self-cleaning oven situation when they cross paths with a truck. But huge danger to pedestrians. If one writes a news story on this, a mandatory graf notes some scooter drivers are immigrants racing to deliver meals, make money,

@milbank.bsky.social What’s a NJB doing on a Kubota tractor? If this is not >10hp nor diesel, is this His way of saying you have book royalties? PS lost a friend whose gentleman farmer tractor flipped. Before rollbars and seat belts went standard. Safer now not 100% safe @juliemason.bsky.social

@juliemason.bsky.social Re concerns about trans dudes sneaking in a Congressional Ladies loo and perhaps proof requiring one drop trou. Recalls the 1990s flap that gays ought be tattooed for easy identification. Then media friends talked up best, most beneficial locations for the tats.

Harry Chapin after a concert would happily talk to any journalist at reasonable length in order to promote his WhyHunger charities. Decent guy, not quite the heartthrob as Dan Fogelberg, but who was?

Hyundai engineer bros built a fab first Genesis sedan in 2008. But the front passenger seat had an 80-cents-on-the-dollar level of adjustments and heating. American women made comments, now all is well, the car really is great.
