Is it just me, or is the soundtrack for this season of Bridgerton not quite hitting?

On the latest episode of my strange life, I got into an Uber yesterday and Elvis Costello’s “Alison” was queued up on the driver’s stereo. My name in the app is listed as Alli. I’m still not sure if that was a coincidence or intentional.
This goes to my longstanding soapbox: everything is a disability policy from housing to health care to urban planning to mass transit.
“Yeah, this is exactly the part where you start to panic…you're going to get it, we promise.”
- Sage advice from good dudes Milo Manheim and Andrew Barth Feldman to their bro Joshua Bassett, currently starring in “Little Shop of Horrors.”

For anyone who needs it:
Every time someone visits this website, they will see a random letter of support from a kind stranger. Ben West started Reasons to Stay in honor of his brother. Anyone can submit letters of support that will be shared with folks who are struggling. ❤️

Can someone please just, I don’t know, not?
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. It’s fine you just missed that exit...” Spoken as a deeply anxious person who often knows where I need to be, but not how to get there from wherever the heck I am, “Proceed to the route,” comes off a little aggressive.
There should be a gentle version of GPS that says reassuring things when you make a wrong turn.
Dr. Janell Green Smith, CNM dedicated her life to safeguarding patients during pregnancy and infancy. She died in childbirth. It is 2026. Why, if not misogyny and racism, are mothers, and Black mothers in particular, STILL dying from complications related to this biological process? See & honor her.
There is no greater gustatory betrayal than sweet pickles. No, I will not explain. If your charcuterie board has anything of a briny cucumber variety other than kosher dill, it’s ‘Et tu, Brute?’ from here on out.
And you’re alone on your couch looking like a spell that’s just been broken. You might say stranger things have happened…
Anyway, Happy New Year! Here’s to all the Endings and New Beginnings to come! 3/3
So that even when you know for sure that it’s ending, it still feels like the rug is being pulled out from under you.
“Don’t go!” you plead to no one in particular. But the actors are already out of character. The set has been struck. 2.5/3
Even when there’s a sequel, you’re not counting on a third date. But with TV you’re afraid to get too attached during the first season because it might not get renewed. And then, with every season that passes, you get a little more comfortable, maybe too familiar with the world of a show. 2/3
SOME THOUGHTS FOR AULD LANG SYNE: Movies are way easier, emotionally speaking. Movies are first dates. TV is a whole relationship. You’re not hurt when a movie (or a book) ends because you understand that there’s no commitment. You know the page count or the runtime. 1/3
No disrespect to Santa, but I feel like I should leave out Eggos and a Peanut Butter Bopper this year. #strangerthings
All of these bootlegged copies of the 60 Minutes segment flooding my feed (saying, ‘Watch it quick! Before it disappears!’) makes me feel like I’m in the Soviet Union and just got some black market foreign newspaper I need to hide under a floorboard in my house.
This is where America is now
A scruffy, 6-pound black and beige peekapoo in a pink harness looks awfully comfy sleeping in a stuffed version of Santa’s sleigh.
It’s exhausting being this cute.

Like, do I even want to watch Jeopardy without Harrison Whitaker?

I LOVE HIM
Hot take: Jeremy Strong’s performance in “Deliver Me from Nowhere” is the heart of the movie because Jon Landau is so much more interesting than Bruce Springsteen. Sticking by someone who doesn’t want to help themselves is so much harder than refusing help yourself.
Medical school has the potential to be one of the most accessible educational environments, and yet they CHOOSE to exclude disabled students. It baffles me how the medical profession views people with health challenges as less than. www.npr.org/2025/05/15/n...
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this season of American Idol has been…really good?!? The top 7 contestants have demonstrated serious talent and—dare I say—actual musicianship. Has this show somehow moved past trite and circled back around to entertaining? Someone should study this phenomenon.
The Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund has additional context here and is hosting an info session this afternoon. dredf.org/protect-504/
We need to talk about Texas v. Becerra: 17 U.S. states are seeking to declare Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 unconstitutional. This law prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities by programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance.
Hot take: All the NFL Teams should have their own marching bands like the college teams do. Create a whole bunch of jobs for musicians in different cities and make the pregame more interesting.
Someone please build a more efficient train path from New Jersey to Brooklyn. I’ll even settle for a ferry route. There’s no reason for it to be this complicated!
