I once thought politics wasn’t for me. Now, I’m proud to represent my constituents and @greenparty.org.uk in parliament. I told @gaytimes.bsky.social @philipcbaldwin.bsky.social about coming out, my journey into politics & how we can make the world a better place🏳️🌈🌍

I will be holding the government's feet to the fire to make sure they get this right, it is delivered at speed, and bill-payers are finally able to properly reap the full benefits of clean and affordable renewable energy.
And the voluntary nature of the proposal raises questions in a crisis-ridden energy market where sellers have the upper hand.
Government has been too slow to act. It is nearly two years since the election - two years in which they could have prevented a crisis like this rather than just respond to it. Households are once again paying the price.
As someone who’s been calling for the price of electricity to be decoupled from the high price of gas since 2022, I’m relieved to hear that the Energy Sec is looking to address this. But this announcement deserves two cheers, not a full-throated three 🧵

Brilliant to see local Green Parties like Reading go from strength to strength!
Greens are already the 2nd largest party on Reading Borough Council, and in less than 3 weeks I'm looking forward to celebrating a record breaking number of @greenparty.org.uk councillors here and across the UK 💚

An absolute pleasure for @oxfordgreenparty.bsky.social to host @carladenyer.bsky.social yesterday for our action day. An amazing turnout for some important conversations ahead of elections on May 7th.
Particularly glad to visit the Ultimate Picture Palace and support their campaign to Save the UPP
Letter on UK Parliament headed paper dated 16 April 2026, addressed to Energy Secretary Ed Miliband. Green MPs urge him to maintain the ban on new North Sea oil and gas licences and not approve projects like Rosebank, Jackdaw or Cambo. The letter argues new fossil fuel extraction will not lower bills or improve energy security, and says claims about protecting jobs are inaccurate. It highlights that 93% of recoverable oil and gas has already been extracted and that remaining resources would be sold internationally. The MPs warn expanding fossil fuels harms workers, billpayers and future generations, and call instead for investment in renewable energy, warmer homes, future-proof jobs, and making polluters pay. Signed by Carla Denyer, Ellie Chowns, Siân Berry, Hannah Spencer and Adrian Ramsay.
Our MPs have written to Ed Miliband urging him not to backtrack on the ban on new oil and gas.
More drilling won’t lower bills or secure our energy future. It’s time to invest in renewables, future-proof jobs, and make polluters pay.
A list of Starmer's 10 pledges, made during his Labour leadership campaign. Every pledge has 'broken pledge' written across it.
Forgive us if we don't trust Keir Starmer.
Do you?
Huge thank you to @carladenyer.bsky.social for visiting Oxford today to support our local candidates and councillors, alongside meeting campaigners for UPP and Refugee Resource. 💚

In 2024, as @greenparty.org.uk co-leader and newly elected MP I pushed for rent controls to be included in the Renters’ Rights Bill, but Labour wouldn’t listen.
This Saturday, I’ll join thousands of tenants, and 50+ unions and grassroots groups, to demand rent controls now.
I co-sponsored this bill which aims to give chalk streams UNESCO world heritage status. These important habitats, 85% of which are in the UK, are at risk of drying out. Let’s protect the homes of plants, fish and aquatic mammals🌱🐠🦦

I signed this letter calling on British and Irish govs to take action on Israel’s continued violations of international law. Specifically: 1) the issuing of tenders to build a new illegal settlement in Jerusalem, and 2) the Israeli gov’s ban on international NGOs in Palestine.

I will continue to work with my constituents and local groups to resist the impacts of these policies on migrants, who are valued members of our Bristol community.
Others felt that neither Home Office nor advice agencies are equipped for the current immigration caseload, let alone the additional work that these changes will bring.
There was real concern for the mental health impacts of the government’s inhumane changes to immigration policy, and the ramifications for vulnerable groups, like children and survivors of domestic violence…

Others look at them. Someone stands at the front of the room, and a TV screen has a powerpoint slide on it, which reads: "Discussion led Bristol Law Centre".
I recently met with people from across the immigration advice sector in Bristol – who shared detailed accounts of the harms that will be caused by government’s new immigration policies, and what they could do instead.

The emboldenment of the far right is a grave concern for all of us. Today, Brits said loud and clear: they do not represent us. Our streets belong to us, not to fearmongers who preach hate 🫱🏼🫲🏿🪧
