Priscilla a silver bus in the Australian outback
#TodayInQueerHistory
12 April 2024
Preserving our past is important. It proves our existence and shares our stories through the years. Today, the History Trust of South Australia launched Destination Fabulous:Save The Queen, a project to restore the ICONIC Priscilla: Queen of the Desert bus.
Simple solution to low birth rates is to learn from history. The baby boom was founded on delivering a welfare state in a unionised society with taxes effective on the wealthy, preceded by five years killing fascists and their leaders.
A headline saying “JK Rowling is very unseat after David Tennant called transphobes ‘little whining fuckers’” over photos of JK Rowling and David Tennant.
In David’s defense, the only reason he said that transphobes like JK Rowling are little whinging fuckers is because they are, in fact, little whinging fuckers.
OMG my nerdy interests overlapping in one video: @tomscott.com visits Taylor Bells. I'll have to wait and watch this properly, not just something cool while I finish my dinner.

At least I get to repost the greatest headline the Independent has ever run.
PLEASE for the love of all things holy FFS
That's the mother?! Are the couple toddlers?!
(you also look amazing, but that's not shocking)
They look gloriously overengineered for the context which is fucking GOLD to me
All Tamatha Paul said, to be derided by Luxon as being "in La La Land" and being "stupid" by Hipkins – was that SOME PEOPLE feel less safe with more police around.
wow that's impressive!
"Due diligence? Never heard of her"
@drdrehistorian.bsky.social I've just discovered the apparent chaos that is SA moron on the ballot Carston (Keong-) Woodhouse being dumped by the Liberals 9 days from the election after his [unsurprising] sexist, homophobic, & xenophobic podcast interviews came to light. So messy!
To that end: "Dear Mayor Brown. Hope your hip-op recovery is going well. I heard a rumour that Simeon Brown and Chris Bishop said you're too pussy to put light rail along all our major routes in the face of rising oil prices"
Here's hoping for an oil crisis that drives political leaders to invest in simple, reasonable light rail! Esp if regional figure it'll piss of national, or vice-versa
I suppose the argument from the operator is that if 99% of your fleet use one system and only one uses another, you're having to have two sets of maintenance, etc. etc. etc. and that's where the costs are, and that by simplifying your fleet, you reduce maintance & operating costs?
I think we all do this to all manner of 4-legged fluffs. But, it's just hit me, we're (generally) better at appropriately & respectfully greeting an animal than a person with a disability (my phone just tried to autocorrect "disability" to "steam roller" so make sense of that as you will)
I audibly & publicly snorted at this
comparing with the UK, I see from Gareth Dennis strong advice on when battery is the better approach and when full electrification is a better solution, but also see from Geoff Marshall where shuttle lines in London are using this tech, with a charging point at one of the stops.
My gut punch moment is that we used to have some really early (short length) electric trains, but they were dismantled for diesel units because they were deemed cheaper/easier in the long term, and now the cost of reinstating electricity is deemed too inconvenient!
If it helps, the first time I did it to my cat, it surprised her more than me
This could be your dream job!

Haha I have kidney disease, I'm ALWAYS remembering to hydrate! 😂
It was the bit talking about the quilts made for charity & all the heartbreaking causes 💕
As someone who'll probably need dialysis in the next 25-30 years, I guess I should start looking into private options since this government is Obv put to cause multi-generational destruction for short-term backing. Fucking hell.
Oh gee thanks @ologies.bsky.social . Listening to Culcitology (quiltmaking) while doing leg day & just low key balling my eyes out in the middle of the gym 💔
10/10 would listen again
So, at this point we can probably all agree that Timothee whatshisname was rejected by someone and is handling it well by doing the actors' version of a men's health podcast?
Such stupid & hypocritical nonsense, & what a way to shit on colleagues.
My lot are boring. Barber & tobacconist, and something something NZR (given dad was a freight forwarder and stationmaster, I imagine his dad did something similar)
Bernie and I wanted to see John become Benedicts mistress (paramour)
My random fact is that (at the time I did it at least), Red Cross said I was the only person to get a concussion during first aid training (after I smacked my head on the concrete floor pretending to be a victim in a re-enactment exercise)
Given the photos of senior/high level MPs wearing (unsecured) apple watches in supposedly security meetings or doing their phonecalls with bluetooth tech ... no, they have no idea what security is or how government work actually happens.
