I'm all for hardware innovation and new form factors, but I am deeply curious how this ultrawide design passes the "fits in normal pants and coat pockets" test. π€

I wasn't sure this day would ever come, but it's here: Gemini for macOS. Now I can retire the janky Safari "app" I was using. #GoogleGemini

Now can someone tell the Google Photos team my Apple TV needs an app? π
Indeed, an incredible photo by Andy Harnik that communicates so much in a single frame. There's well over 1000 words of prose you could unpack from what this photo captures.
More of his excellent photos here:

macOS updates just work: they download fast, the system prep happens silently, and the install can take a while, but it's all predictable. Why is this so hard for Microsoft to get right? π€¨
#WindowsUpdate
I'm stunned that in 2026, #WindowsUpdate is still such hot garbage. π«€ Download speeds in the KB/s (often ZERO), hangs for 20+ minutes at 99% downloaded and then 99% installed. For laptop owners it's infuriating because you're held hostage waiting for it to finish.
We wouldn't need accessories like these if companies would put more effort into their front-facing cameras. People who say phones are "good enough" must never take group pictures with the front-facing cameras. On my Pixel 9 Pro, in anything less than great lighting, the quality is terrible.
I β€οΈ that @theverge.com added an ugly sticker metric to their review of Windows laptops! π€£ That's at the top of the list for things I remove when a relative buys a Windows laptop. They are so ugly and distracting; they're a brand negative, not "helpful marketing".

Weirdly, it wouldn't load in Chrome, even in incognito (so no extensions), but it loaded fine in Safari.
@shandrew.bsky.social Can you think of a reason why the image wouldn't load? I refreshed a few times, tried other images, etc. Everything else on other sites works.
If you're even thinking about investing in the SpaceX IPO, it's important to realize how unhinged from reality it is. This is not rational in any way. ProfG nails it with clarity as usual:

Yesterday, I built my first vibe-coded software tool, and I used Google's #Antigravity to do it. It was mind-blowing how easy it was to create a truly customized piece of software that elegantly solves a specific problem, all in a few hours. It works great. Time for a blog post about the process!
Agreed. Sadly.
"Trump is a man-child playing with matches β the worldβs most powerful military β in a gas-filled room." - Thomas L. Friedman
A great article on the dangerous and foolish situation the world finds itself in because people who value ignorance were voted into office in the USA.

Spotted in my local Facebook Marketplace listings. Someone made a first-run sample of this lunchbox and thought "Yeah, his face looks normal, kids won't be terrified of this, let's make 50,000 more." Nightmare fuel right here. π±

It's been amusing to watch blue-collar work clothing brands such as Carrhart suddenly become stylish β did this all start with Stanley mugs in 2024? β but seeing a #JohnDeere hoodie at Costco made me LOL for real...this is officially silly now. π€£
I binged the first season and it's the only show that I watch the evening a new episode is released. I hope it's around for many more seasons.
#ThePitt
Sometimes a series is over-hyped. #ThePitt is not. It's incredible. π₯
I never watched ER, and medical dramas aren't generally my thing. But the writing, the acting, the real-time approach...it's incredibly compelling.
Did you know that the USA ranks 114th in the world for the current cost of gasoline (the 1st place "winner" is Hong Kong by a HUGE margin). Yet it's still not so expensive people here don't sit there in their cars idling. π€ #gasprices

It's disturbing there aren't more people concerned about the terrible state of America's #finances. This article has the sobering statistics that everyone who lives in this country should be aware of. The war on Iran is not only wrong, but it's one that this country can't afford to pay the bill on.
@bsky.app your platform would be so much better if you would please support the same number of characters per post as Threads. Having to reformat my posts into multiple posts just so I can share here is a pain. π₯
On the other hand, call centre employees deal with frustrated people who can't understand their accents, so maybe this is better for everyone involved if it removes barriers and makes people calling in less apt to be rude.
I still can't help feeling like it strips away some humanity though... π€
On the one hand, someone's accent is part of their culture, and I enjoy hearing and trying to figure out where someone is from.
When it happened a second time, I did some searching and it turns out this is a new "feature" for call centers:
www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
I have mixed feelings about this whole thing.
This week I've called two different #callcenters, and at both of them the people I've talked to have had a weird robotic sound to their voice. One was so artificial I thought I was talking to an AI, and I asked if I was speaking to a human or a bot (answer: human). It was very odd.
...this is during a time when electricity bills are rising for most people and as a country the USA needs all the energy it can get.
And these are TAXPAYER dollars being wasted in a time of insane federal debt. π²
I don't know if I can imagine anything stupider than paying almost a billion dollars to a company to NOT build a clean, powerful, endless source of renewable energy....

The build quality is unlike anything else at this price point: the screen is excellent, performance is snappy, and it's everything that a regular user would need. β€οΈ It's a *really* impressive product.
#MacBookNeo
I finally got to see the MacBook Neo in person at my local Apple store, and I believe Apple is going to sell eleventy-billion of these things. π²

I actually appreciate it that this #Kickstarter campaign owner is showing me the #tariffs as a seperate item. It helps remind me that The Orange Man has made everything worse.
