I think Ben and I figured out pretty quickly this was #NotRisky, the odd ChatGPT image not withstanding.

I could contribute a lot to the science behind the risk. I was really leaning towards risky, but in the end Ben convinced me #NotRisky
I was pleased that we could sort out the science on this so quickly. ChatGPT was more of a disappointment, it doesn't always understand subtle
Ugh. itβs a mixture of truth, half truths and just outright incorrect or misleading information

Food Safety Talk 332: My Hairdresser Was Asking (Live from Intermountain IFT meeting)
with @bugcounter.bsky.social is now up.
Thanks to Dave Bacon Schaffner for sending me the TikTok video that is the subject of this episode. I have some doubts about exactly what these tests are telling us, since the method details are unclear
Sorry this one was a little bit late posting. Also there's a little bit of current events that leaked in.
I wanted the dog to look guilty because it had Giardia, but I did not specify that so Chatty G invented another reason for the dog to look guilty
According to Chatty G, βBwyty Gorau Cymruβ translates to βBest Restaurant in Wales.β The first image it suggested had the three stars all on the same plaque, which was a bit misleading
This one was a little bit silly, no yetis were mentioned (or harmed) in the creation of this podcast.
Once again I got into an argument with ChatGPT about the food safety implications of the image: chatgpt.com/share/69... using a facsimile of The Dude came in a moment of inspiration. www.riskyornot.co/ep...
This was an interesting one, I don't think we were sure how it was going to shake out until the end.
We discussed this same topic in a recent live episode that wasn't recorded so we reproduce this here for your listening pleasure.
Our answers to this one might seem counterintuitive, especially after looking at that ChatGPT image and reading about the Rainbow Gathering outbreak (that's why you have to listen!) Also excited to tell Ben about an outbreak he never heard of before.
Yet another goofy "making food in your dishwasher" video. This one seems safe and might even be not terrible.
We get a chance to talk about the famous Finnish butter Listeria outbreak, and came across a nice article from the literature. Planning to talk more about the article on upcoming episode of FST.
A shout out to Gregory who just wouldn't give up, and also to ChatGPT for such a lovely picture. www.riskyornot.co/ep... Happy St. Patrick's Day tomorrow!π
I hate to support such obviously clickbait-y video's, but it's not a bad topic and lets us discuss actual risk versus things that are just gross
This one starts off a bit silly, but hey it's episode 900. We eventually get down to the topic at hand.
Yes, and Iβve got to think that some of them are probably giving out bad advice. Someone whoβs younger and smarter should write a grant!
And if you type βjar vacuum sealerβ into Google you find dozens and dozens of these things for sale!
it depends. What kind of advice do they give in the packaging? It certainly does seem problematic.
My apologies to any risky or not fans who encountered weird or garbled audio in episodes 894-899. I believe I have fixed the problem, and I uploaded good audio files. Thanks to the Only True Justin on Twitter who raised the issue.
Ben surprises me with his French pronunciation skills. We probably should've dug deeper to find more scientific support, but it seems very low risk.
Here's some show art for those of you who are not fans of LLM's. Not too much to talk about here, so it's a short(er) episode.
I told ChatGPT to include hanger downers in the picture. It understood this to mean utensils hanging down. Even when I corrected what I meant, the hanging utensils remained. Eventually I got some pantry moths in the picture.
The cat turned out great, and the water looks very disgusting. I don't think it would actually look this bad after a week.
Huge if true!
