This is in reply to some discourse(tm) that is occuring with folks who don't like guns/are anti-gun.

I suspect a number of them are bad faith, so I didn't post anything directly. But I do think that even if you are ideologically opposed to firearms, you should still engage in other skills/areas.

You know, it's fine to not like guns. That's allowed. But have you taken a stop the bleed course? How about AED/CPR? Worked with street medics? Volunteered with groups like Food Not Bombs?

Have you done anything to better your community?

If not, I would challenge you to do so.

First slide of the Instagram post from Illustrators Ireland, on a green background. It reads "Generative AI is targeting already vulnerable artists working in the arts sector, with resources the individual artist does not have a chance to object against. This creates a very uneven balance of power. Swipe to see more." #art #arts

Statement from Illustrators Ireland on genAI. Any writer or musician worth their salt would care enough about their own work to avoid the use of genAI images. Damaging other workers in the arts for short-term gain is incredibly selfish and hugely disappointing.

Obviously we like guns fine. What we don't like is Colt arming a genocide in Palestine for blood money. Very honored to stand with the CT Palestine Solidarity Coalition outside the Colt plant today.

Short of the above, I wish for the complete abolition of them, through whatever means are prudent.

I am uninterested in arguing the merits of LLMs/GenAI. I have a background in tech, I know how they work better than you do.

I generally think less of you if you use LLMs for any reason.

I think LLMs and generative AI should be restricted, using state power, to research institutions only, and applied using strict ethical oversight.

I think that unapproved use of LLMs on the internet for purposes such as astroturfing should be investigated with the severity of a terror plot. (cont.)

Andor was one of the most potent and timely pieces of anti-fascist fiction ever seen in mainstream media. No punches pulled, no quarter given for misinterpretation, thoughtfully and intricately woven into countless and inescapable parallels to our own reality. We really need more stories like this.

I've been saying this since season 1, and I am glad folks are finally coming around to it.

it really says something about the DNC that they have a diversity requirement for their leadership that they were willing to overlook until they needed a reason to oust someone attempting reforms.

i miss the early internet. people were like “you gotta see this dude. this cat sure is long.” and they were right. it was really long. it never shoulda gotten any more complicated than that.

There are trans Americans right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist.

Well, I am. We are. We will.

I am so OOTL that I don't even understand what the deal is. Looks like standard Periphery/pirate forces, or even solaris fighters. Aren't people happy with more sculpts? Is there some bigger thing going on? Did they bring back the flying aliens?

you know we all joked about firebombs and walmart, but imagine telling folks from the 2010s that the first firebombs would be thrown at Tesla dealerships.

What we have right now is a system that, on occasion, can produce some good men.

We need a system that actively makes men better.

I have the oppertunity to work alongside a lot of progressive/leftist men, and I often hear about what *exactly* got them into believing what they believe.

Each time it's a product of BOTH chance and high moral character.

This is not how we build a new generation.

There is a reason Andrew Tate is popular. It isn't that young boys want to be shitheads, it's that the lie he's selling is appealing. "Get rich, get adored by hot girls, do whatever you want"

We need just as a compelling message, and we need to be blasting it everywhere.

I'm not saying that there aren't existing pathways, but rather that they are not advertised at all. If half of our culture was shouting from the rooftops "to be a man is to dedicate your time to the service of those in need" we wouldn't be in the position we are in.
