yup! in theory, an eye located at the convex lens's focal point would perceive the scene as if viewed from the concave lens's focal point instead.
no idea about the depth of focus problem, i don't know enough about optics or biology for that 😅
a rough sketch of an optical device similar to binoculars, consisting of convex lenses followed by mirrors and concave lenses, which simulates the eyes being closer to each other
after some wikipedia-ing and armchair inventing, i ended up accidentally reinventing binoculars, except i've swapped the concave and convex lenses. this might produce the desired perspective effect!

Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
