well, mostly. obv the fact that brands can have accounts doesn't help, & it's not always easy to differentiate. it's much simpler to turn brain off, decide an account is a bot or that normal rules of interacting socially don't apply. it causes so much harm and dehumanization in a whole bunch of ways

i dont really have a good answer for how to combat it, but the convo around having respect for nsfw and kink artists has me thinking about how that's another side effect of focusing on engagement and treating socmed like... a marketing competition? instead of remembering we're all real people

aughh it bums me out so much how much existing online has become so depersonalized and encourages everyone to think of themselves + each other as brands instead of humans. it's one of the reasons i like indieweb and fanweeks so much, it's kind of impossible to do that with them, they're too personal
