Sometimes all you need is a quiet medieval street, blue sky and the promise of a beer at the end of your walk.

For #IWD2026, we’re embracing the theme #GiveToGain by sharing insights from three alumnae of our RCP Emerging Women Leaders Programme.

They reflect on thriving in leadership, overcoming barriers and why representation matters in leadership: https://ow.ly/SvII50Yq26y

I’m Scottish. Constantly cold and wet and not having fun was my childhood.

I love this #winterolympics event.
You ski like mad then shoot a gun.
It’s apex 007. A new career beckons…

I love this story.
A reminder of the inspiration of teachers in education throughout our careers.

And by coincidence I finished this today (again), with so many elements set in this part of the world.
It’s my favourite btw. Cheers. S

Another successful weekend on-call, de-spouting the Emergency Department one horrifying beaker lid at a time.

This is a terrific piece of work.
It’s a reminder that data (and science) is a powerful tool, especially in the face of resolute ignorance and an absence to listen to people who actually know what they’re talking about.

However like many many other organisations they may slowly step back from it almost imperceptibly until it’s there, but barely used.

This is not a good look for the Royal Society.
The historic parallels are deeply anxiety-provoking.

Have to admit, I’d have been with Edmund on this one. She also had hot chocolate.

If there’d been a single highland malt, I’d have been sold.

I need to watch the film; it’s on the to-do list.
Gerontius was my first major choral performance at 19. So many wonderful moments.
The Proficicere with the arrival of the Priest is one, but the final moments as he is lowered into Purgatory get me every time.
Right here ❤️

Two weeks tonight I’m singing Gerontius again with UoM Chorus.
Can’t wait. One of my favourites.

Similarly, a question we often get at our monthly community first aid/CPR sessions in the village, is what you do if you’re on your own and choking.
Some suggest self-adm abdominal thrusts using the back of a chair. Any other ideas?
NB can also text 999 if registered & still able…but…

When I was CD I fought like mad for us to keep our Day Hospital.
It was a cornerstone of outpatient, CGA, SDEC, MDT therapy and admission avoidance all in one.
That was 15 years ago.
Very short-sighted 🤷🏻‍♂️
I envy those units across the UK who were fortunate enough to retain theirs.
