I very much take issue with Mo Sihota on CBC Early Edition this morning characterizing calls to maintain DRIPA "extremist." The rights set out in UNDRIP (DRIPA) are minimum human rights standards. In no other context would it be acceptable to repeal human rights.

CVRD postpones zoning bylaw open houses to review public feedback The Cowichan Valley Regional District is putting upcoming open houses on hold as it reviews feedback to its proposed Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw, which drew sharp criticism over the past few weeks.

How not to do anything in local government 101:
*hire a consultant from away who recycles boilerplate crap
*have zero input from elected officials on your draft before going public
*have a garbage comms plans, or maybe none
*do it all 6 months before local elections

It’s a global resource in a global economy. Do these people really think Canadian O&G will accept a price below the global benchmark just to be nice? 🤦

Adam Olsen nails it on the head. Our Premier is being 2-faced when it comes to #DRIPA.

DRIPA’s strength lies not only in what it set out to do, but in how it was developed: years of consultations with First Nations culminating in unanimous support from members of this House.
Amendment or repeal of DRIPA will break trust with First Nations that has taken 50 years to rebuild.

Are these not the same people that complain about Sharia Law infiltrating government? Just a smoke screen to enable their own fundamentalists ideology to infiltrate government.

I split the vote? Maybe the #BCNDP and the NDP candidate had something to do with it too? The BCNDP have failed it supporters on all levels - investment in health, housing & food while giving corporations the keys to the kingdon.

To the candidates competing to repeal SOGI, I want to say something plainly. You are not punching up. You are punching down. You are targeting the most vulnerable students in our school system, kids who are already being bullied at rates that should disturb anyone who has ever met a child

Candidates in the upcoming BC Conservative leadership election are spouting some heinous comments about the most vulnerable kids in schools.

Do better!

And PS, by not properly funding an agency over the years, like the ALC, you are, in fact, cutting services.

4 weeks ago 0 1 0 0

You don't have your facts straight. Have a look at what happened when Don McRae was Ag Minister.

4 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

Ummm... did they not try to split the ALR back when they were the Liiberals? And I recall the NDP having to up the budget numerous times when they first came to power because it had been decimated. Historical facts say otherwise to you claims, Alan.

4 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

Are you kidding me? If the BC Conservatives had come to power, we would have seen the exact same cuts, probably deeper, on day 1. What a load of baloney.

This is so tragic. It’s going to be up to municipalities and Regional Districts to grow spines and not pint off difficult decisons to the #ALC. Farmland is now at huge risk in BC
