DOGGETT: Doesn't your budget propose another 12% cut for NIH?

VOUGHT: Most of what you said is untrue. NIH was not cut at all--

D: My Q is don't you propose another 12% cut?

VOUGHT: We propose a cut

D: Is it your feeling that we just can't afford to invest more in doing something about cancer?

I'm trying to get back into running. It is really hard at this stage of life and living in CA with a heat wave! I am still proud of my 3.6 miles this morning.

I haven't had the time to build a tweetie bird lego with my 4 year old, between submitting an R35 and getting ready for my 160 person class first exam this week. I feel you.

The congressional switchboard number is (202) 224-3121. Put it in your cell phone. Use it. If you're not calling at least once a week, you're not doing your part.

This is 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski, killed in the horrific violence at the Annunciation Catholic Church. We must honor their memories and hold their families close as we come together to heal.

Diseases are spreading. The CDC isn't warning the public like it was months ago Some of the CDC's main channels for communicating urgent health information to the public have gone silent.

1/56 Californians is COVID positive right now! Part of the reason I feel compelled to share this is because a lot of the infrastructure on communicating this to the public has been disrupted. :( www.npr.org/2025/05/21/n...

Important- if you had an illegally terminated grant that was reinstated, you might not be safe. Staff are being told that grants *may* be canceled after October 1st, 2025 if not "in line with agency priorities". POs are being muzzled and can't tell grantees directly.

RIP Jim Lovell. While I wake up and think about biology every day, I think space is amazing and Apollo 13 is an incredible story and mission.

This is a key point--terminations have hit every corner of the country.

See, e.g., the map below from our homepage at grant-witness.us

Awful lotta orange and yellow in Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio. Even Missouri. UAB alone has lost over $18M in funds it was previously awarded.

We set out to quantify U.S. academic contributions to medicines. The results stunned even us From 2020 to 2024, universities contributed patents underpinning 50% of FDA-approved drugs. 87% of those academic breakthroughs came from American institutions.

Universities hold patents on 50% of FDA approved drugs, and research done at universities contributed to 90% of current medications. Think about what we stand to lose if federal funding is cut by 50% 🧪
