M1 was their first go at the laptop and desktop. It isn't surprising like you said. It is a fast machine. The later machines are more stable and faster yet again.

That seems a bit odd, but it is Apple hardware. The USB C Hub I have (no name from amazon) has HDMI port and I can do video there on an external. Too bad. Looks like a sweet laptop.
Look into Asahi Linux. It looks like you can do the install right on that machine.
But you are right, Thinkpads are awesome on just about any distro I toss at them

I will say as a Lead Project Manager, I enjoyed the client contact. I also was the Programmer Of Last Resort. I got the hard problems and solved them.
Peter Principle. Those who can do, those who can't lead - right into a wall.
LOL that's a great description. I don't miss the whole job search thing. Management was something that generally hindered progress and not enhance it.
I went from doing Coop on Burroughs computers, B90/900 and they were the size of an office desk. Disk Drives that take a big white cartridge the size of a serving tray, all running on Cobol. Then to the Mainframes where you had to ask to go in and see the actual box.
I have heard of those, as a class. I came in later, the System 34/38 and the MVS Mainframes. JCL was a truly useful tool to tell that big iron what to do.
Fortran was pretty close to Basic if I misremember right. I cut my teeth on an old TRS 80. Haven't touched either in ages. I keep thinking I should play with code again. Take "Hammurabi" and automate it like I did in College.
#Cobol I am reading people cringing about it, but I was the lead Cobol Programmer at one time. Carrying 25000 lines of code in my head, and converting a #Fortran program with a 5 dimension table into Cobol so someone could follow it later. It was too arcane for anyone else to touch.
As an endurance athlete, I have to plan out days in advance what I am going to do. When weather gets involved, hilarity will ensue.

Yep. One of those Progressive cynical people who calls themselves Gen X but secretly knows "not quite". Its spot on.
A definite follow. And YOLO on a Saturday is a great idea. Thanks @carlchri.bsky.social
Rise and Shine, or if you aren't in Eastern Time Zone, go have something from the kitchen. I won't bark, unless you like that sort of thing.

The upper arm that I got the shot in was a little sore but meh! I feel more pain after a workout. Like your Grammie would say, it's worth it!
This is perfect. I find myself looking at the watch wondering the day and then just let things go on its own rhythm.
Good for you! I had my shot a while back and it was just a blip. I remember my Aunt had Shingles and was in big time pain, it convinced me to get the shot when I could.
Thanks! The toes are tingling from the morning stretch, still. :)

When in Philly I skated 100 miles a week in season either Art Museum to Falls Bridge loops, or from Spring Mill to Oaks and back. Great trail. We just don't have distance like that here. Flat 4.5mi laps around the Blimp in Pompano.
Three times a week, I #cycle a marathon at the big park. When I come home, Rack, the McNab SuperDog(TM) has a routine. It always involves him and the yard, and often Cheese. Spoiled little monster.

When I lived in Philadelphia, I would tell people that summer there is hotter than here in Fort Lauderdale. Today that will definitely be true. And MAN do I miss Fairmount Park and the Trail to Valley Forge.
Ahh yes, the Orange Menace. Delusional.
And yes, these are the prices, today, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
FDJT.
Yes. 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ X 4.0 5 Speed in the driveway. Someone came to my front door inquiring if it was for sale.
No. Sorry. Can't get another.
Please continue, Canadian Friends. I wake every damn morning before 5am and put CBC on for the news, followed by BBC here in Florida. I do NOT trust US news sources any more.
I liked this far too much not to share! BWAHAHA!
I keep running across mentions of Lemon Curd. I'm sure that some will cringe at the idea of making it in the microwave, but I have a passable recipe that is trivial and takes about 3 minutes of cook time.

This reminds me I need to get lemons and make some Lemon Curd before Mango Season hits and I'm eating Mango Jelly for 11 1/2 months of the year.
