I don't think it's a conspiracy -- just that stores are folding under public pressure to keep the game delisted, and not admitting that's why. If there hadn't been a moral panic it's easy to imagine Valve reverting to their more libertarian standards and going "sure, fair enough, we'll relist it."

I don't think anyone at Valve was trying to "take them down," but the recent kerfuffle about credit card processors might have made them skittish. There's much more explicit stuff on the platform, though.

Yeah, seems like the Kepler Interactive model is fairly promising going forward. I think an even more equitable version is possible -- would be interesting to see a large publishing cooperative made up of several member studio cooperatives. Not an easy thing to set up in the US, though.
