Important work from @transportenvironment.org. Let’s hope @ec.europa.eu can sort this out.

It's going to be even worse the next time they appoint Peter Mandelson
Few developments:
- In a statement this evening, Labour Together's new management describes the scope of APCO's report as "indefensible"
- Simons said he "acted too hastily" in appointing firm
- Simons's resignation letter did not address outstanding questions about earlier statements
Full details:
Can you point to any examples of this ‘immense nuclear contamination’ causing any ecological damage? Compared with the damage caused by burning heavy oil in immense quantities.
No battery will ever have the capacity to power a large container ship from, say Europe to Asia. Short distance battery ferries are one thing but larger ocean going ships need more energy and only nuclear offers the opportunity to decarbonise such big ships.
Nuclear powered ships are much more viable than batteries for large long distance shipping. www.koreaherald.com/article/1041...
I'm in Gateshead for the @nea.org.uk conference. If you are too and you'd like to talk heat networks, then please let me know. #fuelpovertyconf

Well done Cardiff Council!
The most heartbreakingly powerful piece I’ve ever read on Substack. Please, please read and share. And look after your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues for whom England is becoming frightening.

They did it again!!
I'm on BBC London News this evening (6.30pm) talking about the cost issues that heat network customers have faced over the past few years and the need for government action.
Here's the BBC web news story: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Shorter lunchtime bulletin here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...
Ofgem's current plans for price protections do not tackle unregulated energy costs facing heat networks (which get passed to customers) and leave heat network consumers without the same level of protection enjoyed by gas and electricity customers.

NEWS: Ofgem’s fair pricing plans still fall short for heat network customers
“Ofgem’s proposals around price regulation do not yet deliver the level of fairness or price protection that heat network customers deserve."

A cutout of the letter published in the Guardian.
We are proud to have signed this joint letter to the Prime Minister calling for a bold and fair climate plan
With energy bills still far too high and millions living in cold, damp homes, the UK urgently needs a plan that tackles the climate crisis and the cost of living crisis together

The Government said it’d cost £99bn to publicly own our water.
But this drew on calculations by — drumroll — water company lobbyists. The true cost is closer to zero.
Here’s why. 🧵
Doe he stand by his claim that immigration has caused "incalculable damage" to public services/the economy?
This is far worse and far less defensible either factually or politically than the clumsy/stupid but not fundamentally malign "island of strangers" phrase.

Presumably the ‘right to bear arms’ is only a ‘longstanding custom’ too that a future president could sweep away with an executive order….??

This is crazy and horrendous.
Today, the UK government intends to ban the non-violent protesters Palestine Action as a "terrorist" group, exposing anyone supporting them to terrorism charges. In 2 days, 380,000 people have watched this video on YT alone.
You're going to need a bigger prison.

Senator Padilla was violently assaulted for doing his job.
If this is how federal agents treat a sitting U.S. Senator peacefully asking questions, how far will they go?
It means we have to look beyond the immediate in scientific research.
Yes. Humanity has to have a future beyond the next 20 to 30 years…
