Presenting our latest lab pre-print showcasing the research of Clinical PhD Fellow Dr David Palmer.
We discovered novel dysregulated RNA-binding proteins (RBP) downstream of RUNX1 aberrations in blast phase-CML, including SPATS2L, which promotes growth and survival.

RUNX1 is an important transcription factor frequently mutated in blood cancer for which no satisfactory targeted treatments exist currently.
David has made some new and exciting discoveries around RUNX1 biology that will be exploited for leukaemia treatment in this study.

The study builds on the incredibly exciting findings from our Clinical PhD Fellow Dr David Palmer over the past 3 years.
David is a phenomenally talented Haematology Registrar from @uhsussex.bsky.social who started his Clinician Scientist journey with us in 2023.

Huge congratulations to brand new Dr Jo Renaut from the Frances Pearl lab at @sussex.ac.uk who successfully defended her PhD thesis titled โExploiting cancer vulnerabilities: A predictive approach to synthetic lethality via dependency mapping and metabolic disruption.โ ๐๐๐
Very cool paper, on my reading list! We were desperate to get hold of some primary JMML samples for this very reason but not a resource widely available in the UK.
We'd be very interested in hearing more about this. Perhaps we could talk more offline?
Thanks Mark, we think so too although of course a little biased. Hopefully the field agrees!
LIN28B is a fascinating RBP in the haematopoietic system.
Weโre excited to announce that weโre looking for a postdoctoral research to join our team!
This is an opportunity to lead an exciting project aiming to push the boundaries of personalised medicine through integrating data, simulation and lab experiments.
