They are very much what the members make them or allow them to become. The idea of a credit union that is committed (in its charter) to providing services to this community would be amazing, especially if the name has good plausible deniability to the vanilla world.
If you don't know what credit unions are or how they work, it's worth researching them. I've been a member of some that are huge and pretty much like a bank with better rates, and some that are small and *feel* small and personal and deeply invested in the financial well-being of members.
I will shout from the rooftops till the day I die that in a world where we're stuck doing capitalism, credit unions are the fucking best thing ever. I've been a credit union member for 30 years, and will never not be. This idea is really, really smart on so many levels.

YouTube showed me a local news story about hypnosis. It’s the usual spon-con “news” from a local hypnotist... Until we see footage from this guy’s office, where it seems his clients *lay in a full sized bed* and he just stands next to the bed when he’s doing the sessions? What the actual hell?
I had a scene like this a little while back and… yeah, that moment where it becomes Some Other Thing Entirely is weird in the best possible way.
The odds are very high that it’s a bogus “non-profit” that’s actually technically structured as a PAC to avoid being subject to any regulation of any kind, that probably sends a box of doughnuts to the precinct once a year and pockets the rest. USA! USA!
