New YouGov polling. A monumental failure of our political class to educate, a monumental failure of our media to report fairly, for a generation

I don't know if "bull distribution" is a typo, but it's perfect.

"I know you're angry about immigration" says Starmer on Twitter.

No. I am supernova furious at your casual assumption that everyone in the UK is an intolerant racist. And that therefore it's fine to treat immigrants like dirt because you're in tune with the prevailing mood.

Get in the bin.

Obviously LOTR. But I actually like video game soundtracks for this, they are basically designed to keep you invested in what you're doing without being obtrusive.

I can’t help but think something has gone wrong in your life if you’re spending your morning off work holding a sign that says “Large Gametes”.

How I became 'collapse aware' And started to imagine what comes next

This is a very good essay if you, like me, have been grappling with the changing world and what it all means and where we're going. Despite the title and heavy topic, it's actually more hopeful than most things (while still being real).

Jim Carrey’s Wikipedia:

In April 2022, Carrey announced that he was considering retirement from the film industry, explaining, "I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough." When asked if he would ever come back, his response was, "It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break."|115] In February 2024, it was
announced that Carrey would reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.[116]

Institute: Another social media account?
Me: Yeah, but this one is THE one I swear
Institute: Didn’t you say that about Mastodon?
Me: Maybe...
Institute: And Threads?
Me: But this is different, we’ve reached the "debating pre-registration" stage

Love the idea of an S-index, and an NIH competition, to incentivise data-sharing.

Would be nice for this to include sharing *materials* (code and stimuli) which is at least as important for replicability. Funders always emphasise sharing *data*
