Sadly, I think they need to be more bulletproof than your average vending machine.
Why? Because, at least around here, there are too many anti-EV vandals who try to use blunt force to destroy these terminals. But you may argue that is a policing problem.

But that is me being cranky about an epically bad UI. I know how it is *supposed* to work, and just wish it was easier to use.
As an owner of a 2022 Ioniq 5 with no preconditioning button, the question "how does preconditioning work?" triggers me...
The answer is "you can't use Android Auto navigation, use the built in cruddy maps, navigate to a known charger, not just the location of a charger, and pray it works..."

Happy Pi Day!
Time to grab an axe from your large collection and get to work.
(Wait. What do you mean that they are not that type of "axe"?)
I own a bed, dining set, and dressers made by Simply Amish, and they are universally quite well made, solid as a rock, and not insanely priced. simplyamish.com
In an ideal world you'd find a local dealer that has stuff you like and check it out in person before buying. (3/3)
I own a bed from Room and Board (mentioned a bunch here), and it is very pretty but not as well made as I would like -- it rocks, and a few slats rattle. So I didn't go back for more from them. (2/)
There is a wide range out there. Gorgeous but eye-wateringly-expensive (and so I've never bought any): berkeleymills.com (1/)
Just sent some cams your way. Thank you!
The phrase "speak softly and carry a big stick" sums up a pretty simple and powerful philosophy. Yet our current leaders are acting like this policy is just too complex and confusing for them to comprehend.
One exception was the Iomega Jaz Drive, which was a removable hard disk. But that product never really caught on. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaz_drive)
If you want to create a bias against anyone who did their undergrad outside of the US, this is a great way to do it.
My reaction after watching this is that I'm impressed at how complex that assembly process is.
The flip side is that if safety is the primary goal, complexity can be a problem. So I wonder what mechanisms they put in place to battle mistakes or missed steps in assembly.

Neal Stephenson came to visit my school shortly after writing Cryptonomicon. Some grad students (me included) took him to lunch. Once seated, he asked everyone "what do you do?"
I'll never forget the look of genuine terror in his eyes when my girlfriend said "I'm getting a PhD in cryptography".
One of the larger and more capable planes that can land at Palo Alto Airport, yes. (The other such plane you often see there is the Piaggio Avanti.)
Did you create it? Because it is one of the best puns I've heard in a very long time.
Once the EAS runs out of money, will flights to small town America just stop? Or will airlines just jack up prices, or continue to fly those routes based on IOUs?
Huh. This social media marketing you are doing here seems to work. Just bought your new book as a result of reading this. Thank you!
Challenge mode. How do you use Cameo without asking something from a celeb?
I read this book (and the rest of the series) in the past couple of months.
It is really really good. If you've not read it yet, now's a great time!
10/10. One of the tells not mentioned in this article is depth of field. Whenever a shallow depth of field is used, I look for other objects which are the same distance from the camera as the subject and see if they are in focus. If not, then I guess it is AI.
This raises an important question: what would happen to the US economy if 21 million million immigrants were actually to arrive on our shores over the course of one presidency?
Done!
I read Starter Villain a couple of weeks ago -- it was quite good, thank you for that!
Me too, so I rode my bike to downtown Palo Alto this morning and found that all the buttons were powered down.
One of many ways Bob Mende was awesome...
...and you can't turn it on until after the car boots up, and you dismiss a warning screen the lawyers put there. ...and the button on that warning screen annoys you because it is just small enough for you to barely miss when you jab at it to make it go away.
