Work is still happening! I'm excited because it's slowly (and quickly at times) feeling like an actual game! For a professional view of development and big announcements feel free to follow @cornmushrooms.com

My wife and I were talking about the Moon and our birthdays. Mine is September 30th and her November 1st, last and first day of the month. I was born under a full moon, she was born under a new moon. Our daughter was both October 14th about in-between our birthdays, and she was born on a half moon ๐ญ
Who knew opening a business banking account was going to be harder than starting the company...
We getting there though, big news for the game should be happening soon!
Those look great!
Resprite is a great app and I love its mobile version. I finally got the PC version to streamline my production for my game and it's great. The developer is updating it regularly and is responsive when I emailed them about feature requests.
I highly recommend it!
Happy #TDoV! As a queer in the imploding Games Industry, it's hard to find stable work. So I'm giving myself a job pitching my pet project, and Patreon is helping me get there!

Chip in some money, so I can finish this prototype and keep doing what I love and am good at!
A lone worker in a dimly lit room alone at a desk. The room is cluttered with boxes, filing cabinets, stacks of paper. He is being watched via two security cameras.
Heavy WIP but it's at least somewhere I feel comfortable showing off a snippet.
Getting the hometown set up to show off more scenes with the writing and comedy we are aiming for in Interloped.

Is there any chance blurays of TADC will be up for pre-order before the final release? It'd be cool to have special features with the different merch drops and commentary included.
I'd also would love to get an art book if that was something the team could do.
Theoretically couldn't a fork be made with it or the feature made and requested to push it to main release branch?
That's part of what Corn Mushrooms is for me, it's just lacking the funding while I work so that's the one major issue ๐
Eyedoctor wants me to not wear my glasses in front of screens anymore to protect my near-sight. Glasses fall off my head and I can't clip them to my shirt because of my baby. So I set them down, I forget where they got left, can't find glasses because I can't see them.
Oh what a fun vicious cycle
Hell yeah man, I get the work you've put in!
I was aiming to mimic the vibe that Russel brought in the video Gorillaz put out for The Mountain. I think with some more polish I'll get the energy and body language down. Of course, then at some point I'll need to go back and add more frames for the other playable character. We'll cross that later
It might be a messy process but it's mine. Once I'm happy with the directions I start working on movement I split the sprite into parts then move or animate over them in blockouts. I'll usually drop them into the game and test them to see if it looks good in movement. #pixelArt #indieDev #soloDev
Turns out the bg layer was slightly transparent so I guess the BG of bluesky comes through? Is it different on light mode?
OK so I felt like the colors were off in my last picture which is a little concerning so I took a screenshot and was like "is it color theory" no something changed between resprite and bluesky but I'm not sure what...
Still very much a work in progress but I figured I should work some more on characters sprites while I have downtime. Not all the poses are finished but for a test on silhouette I'm happy with him.

I've been tossing around a few ideas for a vertical slice of a OoT style dungeon/game. I'd probably switch to Godot now from Unreal but in college we made our final project attempt to do something like that. I'd change a lot of it now, but yeah I'd love to go on that list.
I'll be between big jobs soon, and would love to dedicate at least a few months toward prototyping the gameplay for this project.
If I made it the focus of my Patreon for the foreseeable future, could you see yourself chipping in a few dollars monthly to support it? I've got big plans!
Maybe it's a good thing I stopped being a teacher before kids really got into the whole 6 7 thing.
I would have been really annoying with it.
Thanks a ton for the response! Looks like I'll be making another account for myself and Corn Mushroom. Hopefully this'll be one of the last times. I really enjoyed it here but it quickly felt different and I wasn't seeing relevant stuff and everything kept breaking.
Im so tired of having to start over marketing my game, meeting new cool people, then the site becoming intolerable
Im unsure on how mastodon works if its just people I follow am I promoting my stuff to new people or do they have to search me up If Im in a gamedev branch am I just showing other devs?
I guess GIFs work on BlueSky now? So that's neat! It does look like it's being converted to something pausable though? Who knows.
Might be useful for showing off smaller things that don't NEED sound. Like this silly test gif I made quickly.
I'm so tired...
A screengrab from Aseprite of the main character, Jess, next to a dog mascot and a rabbit mascot for two local food stands.
Working on some NPCs for Interloped and while blocking out the shape I kinda fell in love with the colors. Like they're mascots for a couple of local food stands, so they COULD be wild colors but probably shouldn't overall.

The way I thought that was a bunch of little Luigis in the thumbnail.
Hell yeah, it's shaping up to be clearer at a glance! When you've got a limited size to work with you've got to find all these ways to divide information for legibility. I think you're on the right track with these two ideas. I'm sure there is a way to get it all working in one textbox, unity right?
I was just about to comment the changing color for narration but it seems to have been discussed! Another possible idea is maybe a white stroke/outline effect, maybe?
Grabbed my interaction system from Interloped and started playing with some animation ideas. I wanted to see how well animations synched together if they were both just called but it's like half a frame off, realistically it's probably not a huge problem but as a coder/artist I dislike it.
Sometimes it's fun to put a pause on your main project and work on little things. I was wanting to play with the idea of sfx for walking so I made a smaller project working with that idea and got something I'm pretty proud of. #IndieDev #Godot #soloDev
I took my eldest kid sledding and tried snowboarding for the first time as an adult. Never got the hang of it as a kid. I flipped the bindings to ride goofy like how I ride my onewheel and it went much better.
Not perfect, but better.
