A 3D Printer Brought More Broken Promises to Cairo, Illinois I spotted the printer abandoned off a country road. Finding out how it got there is a whole other story of tangled politics, tiny banks with big business deals, and the future of a town some say canno...

NEW: Two local men promised to build housing with a 3D printer.

That didn’t pan out. When reporter Molly Parker started to investigate what went wrong, she found the printer disassembled on a flatbed truck at a country repair shop.

Then things got weird.

I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again

Cherish Your Memorized Weakness | John Semley “The Comeback” is the rare Hollywood insider entertainment that is not merely satirical, but unrepentantly disdainful.

Born of Lisa Kudrow’s own professional burnout, “The Comeback” pulls no punches in its litany of backstage horrors. Now in its third and final season, this is pitch-black satire at its most vicious and self-lacerating.

Trump is about to drop a “nuclear weapon” on trans youth health care How a report led by a right-wing pundit laid the groundwork for upending gender-affirming treatment

@rikiwilchins.bsky.social 2026 Apr MoJo
Good long-form summary from Mother Jones on the Trump assault on affirming care to date and what could happen as it continues weaponizing Medicare and Medicaid against hospitals, which together cover early half of all hospital care spending.

Your ballot or other mail may not get postmarked by USPS the day it's dropped off Close to a deadline for mailing your ballot, tax return or legal document? To make sure it gets a postmark on time under the latest USPS changes, you may want to send it early or visit a post office.

TAX DAY PRO TIP if you're filing by mail: Do not rely on a mailbox or a letter carrier today for filing your return on time.

Go inside a post office and ask for a free manual postmark at the counter.

Otherwise, your tax return may not get an April 15 postmark date and the IRS may apply penalties

For more than a week, Amazon has managed to keep a death at its Troutdale, Oregon, facility out of public view.

Workers I spoke to are pissed.

my mom, a Hindustani classical singer, worked with her in the studio and at All India Radio (AIR) in the ‘80s and she’s only had good things today about Asha Bhonsle. we continue to sing so many of her songs as a duo (thanks for the genes, mom) and this hits so close to home.

RIP Asha Bhonsle. impossible to sum up her legacy, her impact, her rich and vast discography in any form. she and her sister (Lata) were probably the last real royal dynasty in India. and they kept singing for so long! Asha was on a gd Gorillaz album just this year!

They Detransitioned. They’re Still Trans Allies. — Assigned Lucy Kartikasari was only 19 when she underwent mandatory sterilization as a part of her transition to male. Eight years later, she started detransitioning.

Detransition is often used as a cudgel against the transgender community, but most people who detransition actually remain trans supportive.

Today on Assigned, @madisyn-writes.bsky.social spoke with three detransitioners who support trans people.

Image of a ProPublica headline that reads "They Needed Treatment for Drug Addiction. The Company They Turned to May Have Used Them to Commit Fraud." The headline is illustrated with a pair of hands holding a miniature rehab center. One hand is dropping a small human through the top of the building. From the bottom of the building, a $100 bill emerges.

NEW: Kentucky’s largest drug rehab center touts a Christian message and a selfless commitment to helping others.

But internally, the organization prioritized money over the well-being of its clients and staff, interviews show.

I take no pleasure in saying that I and my @propublicaguild.org colleagues are on strike.

It shouldn't have come to this and i can only hope that seeing the overwhelming majority of staff walk out today opens management's eyes and convinces them we're serious about our demands.
