I feel like “branded” could work in this case too.

This would be a believable reason if every social media feed of mine for the past week wasn't filled with phone screenshots of Miis saying naughty words in mundane conversation

Regarding Peach’s backstory in the movie, Miyamoto thinks that too much character backstory can restrict what games they can make next, hence their reluctance to make movies for many years. But now that her backstory is fleshed out, future games will follow it closely.

I understand why people do it, but I'm noticing that I get slightly annoyed seeing the 3DS Tomodachi Life referred to as "the original". I wonder if this is what it felt like seeing people using American FF numberings or calling something like Sacred Stones "Fire Emblem 2".

Tokyo EPD missed out on Captain Toad and NES Remix, and Sora Ltd.'s had an amiibo record for all releases. I suspect that different teams have different attitudes towards amiibo which is interesting to see.

I think Nintendo EPD5 has had an amiibo for every single new release of theirs since the concept was introduced (AC, Splatoon) with the exception of Drag X Drive.

CHALLENGE YOUR FATE!
Messages cheer fighters from the background

Description:
Screenshot of a trailer for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U introducing the Miiverse stage, with Lucina taunting in front of a Miiverse post depicting herself.

Context:
The Miiverse post was drawn by me! Back when I worked in QA at Nintendo, there was a day where they asked for volunteer artists to draw Miiverse posts, which turned out to be used for a future trailer unveiling the Miiverse stage. Myself and a few others were selected. I ended up drawing at least three different posts for various characters, but this post is the only one that ended up in the trailer.

Happy Birthday, Lucina!

...I think I've only drawn her like thrice, but I can proudly say this one was on the clock.

Some new info for Nintendo historians.

Earlier this year, Miyamoto’s hometown Sonobe celebrated its 20th anniversary of merging into Nantan City, and invited him to give a commemorative speech. The speech is titled “Originality⁉” (独創⁉). I’ll post some highlights in the threads following this.

I don't understand the rationale of making it a GameStop exclusive when some GameStops didn't even bother stocking it.

I got a copy for sale on PS5 and that was a day 1 edition too. I think they were just overprinted.

In the map screen in Super Mario Sunshine, a Yellow Yoshi in the Pinna Park brochure is seen saying something nearly unreadable:
[screenshot of unreadable text]
However, trying to enhance the image suggests, using the evidence provided, that he is congratulating someone named Shinko:
Please accept my best wishes for your marriage, Shinko!
Shinko Konishi is a map designer who has worked at Nintendo since 2000. In 2001, she worked with programmer Yoshitaka Takeshita on Animal Crossing:
Field Design
Jun Takamura
Shinko Konishi
Program
Masaro Sakakibara
Makoto Sasaki
Nobuhiro Sumiyoshi
Yoshitaka Takeshita
Hiroshi Umemiya
In Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshitaka Takeshita was not involved, and her name was still Shinko Konishi:
MAP DESIGN
Hiromu Takemura
Atsushi Miyagi
Shinko Konishi
Taeko Sugawara
However, in Super Mario 64 DS, they work together again (in the same roles), and now Shinko's last name is Takeshita:
MAP & LEVEL
DESIGN
MINI-GAME PROGRAMMING
JUN TAKAMURA
SHINKO TAKESHITA
EIJI MUKAD
YUJI SAHATANI
YUKARI SUZUKI
YOSHITAKA TAKESHITA
EIJI NISHIKAWA
This all is extremely strong evidence that Shinko was engaged to Yoshitaka during the production of Super Mario Sunshine. As the Yoshi image would have been made by someone on the map design team, they would have worked closely with Shinko and used this opportunity to congratulate her.

In Super Mario Sunshine, the Pinna Park map screen brochure features a Yoshi saying something nearly indecipherable. However, it turns out there is compelling evidence that he is congratulating a map designer on her upcoming wedding to a programmer at Nintendo.
