Thanks for the correction. We did elect our DNC delegates at State. We have not yet had our primary, as we are still going through reorganization.

/9 I mostly put this thread together because I keep on hearing people talk about the DNC like it's some super secret party which only is a certain people are invited. Most of what it takes is not being a super politician or donating a lot of cash. It basically takes work.

/8 we ran ours by ranked choice voting, and the top two from each round went ahead and became delegates. The same delegates you saw screaming and cheering on the floor at the Democratic convention. Now these delegates will vote for the next DNC chair.

/7 and what do we have? More elections! The elections are run based on an agreed upon set of rules that everybody follows. You put your name in along with your pitch and then you politic. Get votes. Have SCs Pledge to you. About 6 months before the Democratic convention we had a delegate vote

/6 state committee persons elect the state chair and the board. You also become visible and can make connections with other SCs across the state.

Now we're getting to the real meat of this thread : becoming a DNC delegate. To be clear: you have to be a PC to be a delegate.

/5 You can also at that point become a State committee person. Chosen by the PCs in your district. You then represent your district at the state level. (Which is why relationships at the local level are important)

/4 Now as you get families with the process, you make friends and contacts. You can start to discuss and persuade other PCs that your ideas are good. This is important because PCs elect their local democratic boards. And those boards feed into the county leadership, and then to the state level

/3 Becoming a PC is different depending on your state, and it's called by different names but the job is the same. Knock doors, register voters. All in your neighborhood. Your neighbors. Learn who your democratic allies are around you. I'm in AZ so you'll have to check your states rules.
