In this case, I actually love the headline. I wouldn't change a word. Whoever wrote it must have been laughing pretty hard when they put it together.
One of my favorite players on tour. I'm a bit worried about his physical condition right now, though. Hope he doesn't grind himself down in the upcoming clay season.
I just open the video in a separate tab before the presentation, then go to that tab when it is time to play the video.
You look like you are being held hostage.
Not to mention the time the US shot down an Iranian commercial airliner. Or the time we deposed their democratically elected leader. Iranians have way more reason to hate the US than vice versa.
That’s definitely a joke.
He's still chasing those pointless Yglesias Award titles that Andrew Sullivan used to give him back in the day.
There were also Black South Africans who worked for apartheid. Many of them, actually.
I agree. We are becoming a post-literate society. The panics from the past were all signposts on the road we have been traveling for some time. I see it all the time with my students.
I actually agree with that description. Who doesn't want to hang out in a hotel and dream of returning to power?
We decided to do fascism because a bunch of fourth-rate standup comedians didn’t like being criticized for their derivative material. Thanks, Dave Chappelle!
It's going to become more of an issue throughout the 21st century, thanks to climate change. The challenge becomes what to do when there isn't a roof, as is the case at many tournaments. Cincinnati, which I attended last year, can get brutal in August.
I don't think you are understanding my point. Let's move on.
The other thing to remember is that arguably the GOAT, Djokovic, dealt with these conditioning issues in a big way early in his career. Conquering them made him one of the greatest athletes of all time. It is part of the sport, and I would argue a valuable part.
I'm not saying that they shouldn't close the roof. I'm saying that it is an oversimplification to say that playing in heat is "extreme" or "death." And tennis is not *only* a skill sport. That's my only point.
It’s both. But playing in heat doesn’t mean “extreme” or “death.” It means conditioning and endurance.
Jesus Christ, social media is pointless.
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
That Venezuela regime has already been compromised by Trump's threats.
Well, since I am not a member of Trump's cabinet, I'm afraid the 25th amendment isn't going to be much help. But good luck convincing Pete Hegseth to remove Donald Trump from office. Trump is actually not the biggest problem. The biggest problem are all his advisors and supporters.
And the US had no troops in Venezuela until they captured Maduro. How many troops are currently there isn't particularly relevant.
I don't think he believes that. He's just saying that Europe attacking would *trigger* World War 3. I don't think he's assigning blame to Europe at all. The original post could have been worded better, but micro-blogging is what it is.
If you think the nations of Europe are going to go to war with a long-time ally over Greenland when it failed to put troops on the ground to defend Ukraine, I think you have a faulty understanding of what is likely to happen.
But he's right. Europe ISN'T dumb enough to attack the US if the US occupies Greenland. Trump doing that is obviously wrong. But starting WW3 over that would also be very dumb. His assumption is that US would claim Greenland without a shot being fired, since it already has troops there.
The larger point here that is important and that everyone should think about is why would Europe go to war over Greenland when it declined to do so over Ukraine?
He thinks the whole thing is Trump's fault. He's just saying that Europe isn't dumb enough to attack the United States and trigger World War III because the US occupied a territory it already has a military base in. That's his point.
That wasn't his point. His point was that WW3 wouldn't happen at all. He's not saying it would be Europe's fault. He's saying it's not going to happen.
His point is that Europe is not going to attack the US if Trump takes Greenland. That's almost certainly true. I do think there would be economic consequences. And long-term military consequences. But not immediate war with Europe.
Thoughts on Louise Brooks's non-Pabst films? I'm looking at that new Focus on Louise Brooks set from Flicker Alley and wondering if it's a worthy purchase.
