Lot of old cars on the road, given that the Tesco logo is from 1995 at the earliest.

Hmm... Police measuring the "about a dozen" misidentifications against the 3 million people passing the camera, and not the 850 (minus "about a dozen"?) correct arrests speaks to some statistical malfeasance.

"No head for heights? Where's your Dunkirk spirit? Your father didn't fight in the second world war... admittedly, etc."
Feel like we should all be encouraging flag shaggers, if they're going to hang flags from lamp posts anyway, to hang them at the very top of the lampposts, rather than half mast, because half mast looks so depressing, and isn't radiating the pride they ostensibly wish to convey.
Africa is so big you could fit a smaller Africa within its borders
When I trimmed the hedge at the weekend my right hand puffed up so much it looked like RFK Jr.
Anthropic doing an Anthropic there.
Maybe it will be today.
Keep seeing Starmer as a Blair microfiction. Noted that his ID scheme got from "it's necessary" to "it'll be up to departments to find a use" in about a month, when it took Blair 2 years. Feel his current woes were caused by urge to appease a terrible US president; took Blair six years to get there.
There we go.
Huguenots go home!
A bit harsh. He wasn't responsible for the CSAM, he just produced and published it.
If you want to understand the party, look at the company's paperwork.
Moves from Reform to Restore because (presumably) Reform not far right enough.
But he complains about Reform being too top-down, and filled with unelected middlemen bureaucrats. Reform is and always has been against devolution. It exists in a cloud of constructive ambiguity about what it's for.
Nope. The brand is broken. They need to dissolve it. They also need to run an audit.
Weird to see the government making phones illegal(?) in schools, when they could get ahead of things and make LLMs illegal in schools too.
Unpacking "can't even lie straight".
Dodge can mean both "avoid" and "evade". You're welcome.
Momentarily imagined Trump collapsing with a heart attack, and his chest The Thinging the paramedic trying to use the defibrillator on him.

I guess the issue here is that Anthropic and companies of their ilk make claims for their own products that news media have no way of verifying so rather than just ignoring it for the VC bait that it is, they have to run with "if it's true" analysis that serves no-one but the AI firms themselves.
Oh God. Expert now saying we should praise Anthropic for "showing restraint". It's bullshit. Like it was before.
Oh God. The Today Programme taking Anthropic seriously. Always begging the question, never testing the claim.
Alphabet rolling AI assistance on Google office apps and saying up front that it's only free for an unspecified time before going to subscription, feels like another tiny herald of the end of the LLM bubble.
Amazing that US 70s telly could provide as enduring an image of horror as the floaty boy at the window.
More Everything Forever by Adam Becker is extraordinary. Deeply unsettling essay on how much of technology has been steered by a movement that is practically a Christian fascist cult. Makes sense of the now.
I just assumed it was your nickname.
SNL UK Starmer has now eclipsed the real Starmer in my mind. "I'm blummin' cross!"
So he'd still be 107 if he hadn't died?
Do you think someone once told Musk that ketamine is on Mars?
FFS. Nothing takes me out of a film faster than failure to even do the most basic research. The Statue of Liberty is on an ISLAND. It is not buried in a jaunty angle in the sand.
