Film rights are complicated.
Eventually Swiss television will air / stream, but that is I believe geo-locked.

Thanks @gregggonsalves.bsky.social for the shoutout! Totally agree, we need an outside strategy to win. Quiet, behind-the-scenes deal making is not going to save science.
Here is a sneak preview of a workshop that we will run at the APS meeting in Barcelona in May, about how to cope with autocratization. It will be based on our Anti-Autocracy Handbook. I will be putting it on together with Prof Christina Pagel and Vera Kempe:
In case you missed the 2026 curve for e.g., F awards because it's completely flatlined, here's a big fat arrow showing where we are. Curves for T and K awards are just as bad.
The term here is “freeloaders” — ‘moderate’ antivaxxers have long expected others to uphold the social contract and vaccinate while they do what quack doctor Bob Sears advocated in his parenting book as “hiding in the herd”. Then when too many weaken herd immunity & their kid may get sick they 💉
You can never read too much fiction.✅
But the purest of pleasures lies in writing our story of tomorrow.💯

the two most recent are classic suppression of the press & using the justice system to attack political enemies

Now out in German cinemas.
If you want to get the deeds behind the Covid-19 origin; and the controversy surrounding it; this might be the movie to watch.
Alternatively, somebody from the movie also wrote the definitive book on the topic too 😅

Screenshot of Eurosky fundraising page showing amount raised: €5,226 out of a €100,000 target and number of supporters (282).
We’re fundraising to build everything we need to operate without Bluesky. Our €100,000 target will accelerate our goal of building a European app backend (Appview) and a microblogging app.
Since last night over 282 of you contributed more than €5,000.
Let's do this!

Prior to obtaining power, Jay Bhattacharya faked a concern about free speech, at least when it came to his social media content.
Now that he is the medical establishment, his name should be forever linked with scientific censorship and a rejection of civil debate.
My latest.
Thrilled to share my first piece for @thenerve.news—an incredible woman-led team reporting on tech, politics, and culture, founded by the inimitable @carolecadwalla.bsky.social —on why Iran is winning the information war

Bluesky under attack. (Maybe you noticed that Thursday.)

Lab leak narrative pushers not all on the up- and up when it comes to ethical conduct?
Count me shocked 🫠
Shocked I say!
Well... not that shocked ⬇️
Didn't expect this bizarre outcome. In 2021 @pubs.acs.org published a paper by Ariel Fernández full of COVID lab leak conspiracy nonsense (Twitter thread x.com/PeterDaszak/...). They refused to retract but issued an Expression of Concern. Forward 5 yrs & @retractionwatch.com contacted me about it..
A line edit with diffs
They line-edited my letter to the editor to strip out facts, culpability, even sentences like “A factcheck request isn’t censorship, it’s counterspeech.”
They want their readers to believe the lie. It’s that simple.
They sent out a bs story ab cEnsoRshIp to a million ppl and want it to be true.
Here is The Free Press's values page: "We seek and report the truth. We tell it plainly when we uncover it, even when it's politically inconvenient." "We assume good faith. We treat each other and our sources with the utmost respect." "We are adults, and we treat our readers like adults, too. We encourage each other to think for ourselves and change our minds when we encounter new information." And here is the timeline: On April 1, a Free Press editor read evidence that the premise of Siegel's story was wrong. On April 5, I sent the reviewer's email saying he himself asked for the takedown. On April 9, I asked the editor directly why the article still hadn't been updated with this information and they ignored the question. As of April 14, the article still shows no indication that the smear was completely baseless.
The Free Press talks a big game about its “values”. It was started after its original owner decided the NYT was too “tribal.”
It’s just another partisan rag committed to protecting its friends.
That won’t surprise many here — but the receipts are wild.
Two weeks ago The Free Press let a whiner publish 2000 words ab how I got his book review cEnsoReD. It was pure nonsense from the moment it went out—but I spent the next 14 days trying to get them to post an Editor’s Note and admit reality.
They won’t.

"We can disagree about how progressive tax systems should be ... But there is no justification for a regressive system in which the super-rich contribute less than the rest of us. This is how inequality is deepened and sustained"
As wealth concentrates, so does power — the power to influence elections, shape policy, tilt markets and define the terms of public debate.
Taxing billionaires is not radical.
What is radical is allowing a system where extreme wealth exists alongside widespread hardship.
So the Big Lie and the attacks on science are directly linked, via media and consensus truth.
Can’t have an autocratic regime if the pro-democracy side can effectively disprove the lies of the leaders.
This stuff also led directly to the destruction of US research, cancer cures, etc.
NIH became a political pawn in the plan to deflect blame for COVID away from Trump. That required attacking public health, truth, and science, and it led right to where we are now
Dear Member of Congress: The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) are deeply grateful for the longstanding bipartisan support from Congress for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We want to inform you of current and likely impacts of delays and changes in funding policies and procedures for NIH grants. Our concerns relate to the following areas within NIH: • Massive reduction in notice of funding opportunities • Delays in funding processes and inadequate capacity to administer grants • Increase in forward funding of multiyear awards in year one • Delays and potential lapses in funding for large clinical trial networks and clinical trial units Lack of transparency around permitted international collaborative partners for research projects • Disproportionate impact of grant terminations on vulnerable populations, especially women and people of color
U.S. infectious disease research is on the brink. Without immediate action from Congress, much of it will cease to exist within a year.
For example👇
1️⃣ No collaborative RFAs posted for >1 year (normal: many / year).
2️⃣ No foreign collaborators allowed on grants.

Media people think I'm funny and/or crazy when I start every conversation about Murthy, the CenSorShIp InduStrial ComPlex, CISA, etc with "So some election deniers did a thing..."
