Also unless you’re flying into Newark it does not take long to check or get your bags, and you don’t have to try to bring a roller bag into tiny bathroom stalls or carry a duffel around for 2 hours.

This is the most man thing I’ve ever read. I check a bag on one night work trips just so I can make sure I don’t have to show up to meetings looking absolutely wrecked from hotel shampoo (and no curl products!) never mind meds and makeup.

A loves one told me recently that NJ should ban people from moving from NY because there’s not enough housing and not enough room on the roads. I had to explain that THAT IS WHAT TRAINS AND BUSES ARE FOR!!! There are no anti-growth measures or enough lanes that will solve car traffic.

I volunteered with Protest Access in 2020 - disabled folks came together to ensure everyone was included in a nationwide movement. A lot of people worked really hard imagining something better. Fuck us for hoping during a dark and scary time!

History was already rewritten when Biden got elected and everybody suddenly got behind “vax and relax” and now it’s getting written again with disabled people as house gremlins who loved being stuck inside.

Like Jesus my anxiety was so bad in 2020 I actually had to cobble together DIY eating disorder recovery resources because all my obsessive eating and exercising behaviors returned! And also it sucks so hard that so many accommodations have been forcibly erased now.

You guys I cannot do pandemic discourse today. I simply cannot handle people assuming disabled and introverted people enjoyed the pandemic when all we’ve been saying is, “hey weren’t some of those accommodations better than what we had before or since?”

I have tried my best to continue to advocate for things like online, hybrid, or outdoor meetings, and it is met with a lot of groans and eye rolls and people saying “Covid is over.” But people needing accommodations is not over! And it never will be!

I chipped a bone in my heel as a kid and the treatment was just to stay off of it for a few weeks. I don’t know a lot about elbows but I’d imagine it’s similar?

But like what job is that? My dad had a very different job than I did at a much bigger and fancier company and he also had a lot of trips where it was like fly in for specific meeting then go home.

Also, like sure show up an hour before your flight at small airports like Reno or Spokane or whatever. But I’d like to hear from people regularly flying out of Newark how early they have to get there, because WOOF.

Now, I also have anxiety so I tend to get to the airport much earlier than some of my coworkers. But nobody cares as long as my butt is on that flight!!

I certainly don’t budget for the potential of missed flights when I’m putting proposals together! And a lot of my travel is one night or even same day there and back. Missing a flight would be an absolute disaster!

I’ve found where all the airport discourse is coming from and a lot of people are like “maybe for business travel when someone else is paying” and I can’t think of a single client who would be happy paying for a missed flight, especially if it meant I didn’t make it to the city council meeting.

This is extremely airport and time of day/day of week dependent. Also, personally the stress of potentially missing my flight is not worth the extra hour at home anxiously staring at the clock lol

I got hit while riding my bike last week (not in NYC) and apparently the police can’t (or won’t) cite the person for running a red light and hitting me because she lives out of state. You need to be in a car for cops to give a shit about you.

It’s hard to truly express how absolutely obsessed with exercise my parents were/are lol - and to top it off, they were both sport cyclists and my mom became a spin instructor when I was in high school. I had no chance!
