This global event will bring together researchers, meditation practitioners, clinicians, and artists to explore how contemplative and scientific approaches can deepen our understanding of the mind, consciousness, and human flourishing. To register: mailchi.mp/217ea31ae020...
I will be invited to speak at the International Contemplative Science Series online in February 2026. This year’s theme: “States of Consciousness and Beyond: Daily Life, Dreams, Death, and the Nature of Consciousness.”

Everything that we said at that conference is still highly relevant and I’m working on a way to bring it to the internet with whatever updates we have. More on that as it develops.

This is a reflection on the conference, on the fact that it was held in the very poor country of South Africa, and what that meant to them. I hope you enjoy. (4/5)
Over the two days, I spoke for five separate hours, weaving a story about attachment, neuroscience of trauma, therapy and the need for new approaches in reference throughout to Frank’s and Ruth’s work. (3/5)
Other presenters were Helena Bester, a major force in neurofeedback in South Africa and Mozambique; Dr. Frank Corrigan, author of Deep Brain Reorienting, to my mind the most important breakthrough in therapy for severe trauma; and esteemed trauma and dissociation researcher, Dr. Ruth Lanius. (2/5)
In October of 2024, I traveled with my 17 year old granddaughter to present at a conference in Johannesburg called Trauma24. attunedneurofeedback.com/reflections-...

Dear friends and colleagues,

Considering everything, I am extraordinarily lucky and here to say Happy Holidays to every one of you and of course Happy New Year. The only prediction that I can accurately make about that is that is won’t be 2025!

For now, all I want is to express my gratitude to the powers that be, to neurofeedback and to all of you for the support, encouragement and company you have given me.
In September I had a series of strokes mostly involving the cerebellum but touching in, like a tornado, to the thalamus, hippocampus, brainstem and occiput. All predictions would have been severe ataxia, chronic pain and major visual impact. None of this happened.

That’s the update- I hope to be walking by Christmas.
Best to each one of you,
Sebern
One of my first doctors in the rehab said she saw no reason that I would not fully recover. I’m going with this. I think- and almost all of my medical folks agree- I am doing this well specifically because of neurofeedback.
I have no ataxia and no cognitive difficulties. I can’t walk yet or stand for any length of time, my vision is blurry in my right eye and I have trouble using my right hand- my signature cannot be recognized!
If you have to experience a stroke, having this one is lucky. Cerebellum strokes are often devastating and quite often permanent.
As some of you will already know, I have suffered strokes of the cerebellum, been in the hospital, then back home and then had a second more problematic one five days later on September 29 that landed me back in the ambulance, back in the hospital and then in a two-week rehab center.
There's still time to register for the first ever Deep Brain Reorienting Conference, held in Toronto Sept. 13-14. There is also a virtual option to attend. I hope you'll join us for what might well be a paradigm shifting event!

The conference will be available online, but I do recommend trying to attend in person if you are able. Toronto is likely the closest Dr. Corrigan will be coming to the US in the foreseeable future. Either way, I hope you'll join us for what might well be a paradigm shifting event. - SF (3/3)
I'll discuss why I recommend DBR to accompany neurofeedback in the treatment of trauma, and explore developmental trauma as A Disorder of Synchrony- a breakdown in vital synchrony between mother and child- and the need to address this rupture with ‘frequency medicine’: neurofeedback and DBR. (2/3)
Hello everyone,
The first ever Deep Brain Reorienting Conference (DBR) is being held in Toronto on September 13 and 14th. To me, DBR is the most significant breakthrough in the field of psychotherapy since it has become a field. (1/x)
deepbrainreorienting.com/dbr-conferen...
I will be presenting a keynote address, "A Disorder of Synchrony: Shock and the Frequency Domain in Developmental Trauma", in which I will hypothesize on the effects of shock on the electrical domain of the brain, and how DBR may be changing the frequency signature of shock in the brainstem.
The Deep Brain Reorienting® Conference is fast approaching, and there's still time to register. The lineup of speakers is fantastic. I hope you can join us- more info below!
Don’t worry about that, though. Read this book! Available online, or order it from your local bookstore. - SF (4/4)
