Hopefully yes. May or may not be worth the bank’s and/or NZI’s time to deal with I suppose. But it did strike me as a particularly stupid use of stolen credit card details. Hopefully NZ border peeps have a plentiful supply of rubber gloves and will give them the welcome they deserve 😂

Screen grab of an image caption reading “Image credits: Ron Lack/Pexels (Not the actual photo)”.
Well that’s a new one 😂 But I suppose it beats the totally pointless, lazy, and frankly disrespectful “Credit to the respective owner” cop-out that seems so popular these days ;-)
Someone fraudulently used my credit card to pay New Zealand Immigration for 10 E-Travel Authorities.
Called my bank, card blocked, all good.
🤔 Should I also call NZI so they can cross-reference the card number to the applicants and give them the “appropriate welcome” on arrival? Bwahahaha etc ;-)
Screen grab of an extract from an article on the BBC News app, reading: “Trump did not mention that he previously pardoned the father of his daughter, Ivanka's husband: Charles Kushner.”
That doesn’t mean what BBC News (presumably/hopefully/surely) meant it to mean… 😂

Photo of the front panel of a Strymon BlueSky guitar effects pedal, with buttons labelled Favourite and Bypass, knobs labelled Decay, Mix, Pre-Delay, Low Damp and High Damp, and switches for Mode and Type, with options respectively for Norm, Mod and Shimmer, and Plate, Room, and Spring. Which may or may not strike you as wholly or partly applicable to a social media post… :-)
And/or posted at different times etc; ignore reports from newly-created accounts or accounts with minimal post history; add weight to older or more
prolific / engaged accounts etc
Possibly, yeah. But I wonder - bot farm for mass-posting spam etc vs bot farm for mass reporting disliked posts; the former has instant results, the latter doesn’t. And I think the latter could be engineered to become less worthwhile for the bad actors. Eg only count reports from unique IP addresses
Just an idea, to (hopefully) reduce mod workload. What if you reverse the process, ie any account that gets more than x separate reports is auto-suspended; owner must then contact mods to reinstate. So mod time is spent looking for false positives rather than Bad Stuff to remove. Any good?
Screenshot of the Department of Government Efficiency’s Xitter feed, comprising its only two posts so far. The first says “Working overtime to ensure your tax dollars will be spent wisely!” and the other is an image of Donald Trump’s statement announcing the proposed department, to be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
So Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency is going to be so efficient that it will have not one but two leaders... I wonder what all that promised overtime is going to cost? 😂
It’s inside the cat… 😂
Have you seen the Monty Python Dead Parrot sketch? Quite a few euphemisms in there… ;-) www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vuW...
Oh, and I suppose (ahem, x=6, oops) there’s this. Claim to fame and whatnot. Or not. movingtomalaysia.info/boris-johnso...
And nowadays I mostly do music stuff, of which my latest effort is on SoundCloud here: on.soundcloud.com/zYQmq9hxuy3J... 5/x (where x has turned out to be 5; for now…)
…I decided it was better to be somewhere else, far away, when actual-Brexit (finally) happened. So I moved to Malaysia. And wrote about that experience here: movingtomalaysia.info 4/x
After that, I did some consultancy work in the British government, helping to design a system for managing trade tariffs post-Brexit. That experience convinced me (as if it wasn’t already blindingly obvious) that Brexit was going to be an absolute sh*tshow, so… 3/x
Then I spent a few years trying to bring to market a guitar I designed, which I called the Hirsch SB-1 Radius. Because it had a small body with a radius surface contour… Partial success, mostly fail. You can read about it here if so inclined: www.jonathan-hirsch.com 2/x
I noticed introductions seem to be all the rage on here at the moment, so I suppose I should probably do one. So to speak. Might have to split it over a few posts. Anyway here goes.
I used to be in the UX (User Experience) industry. Here’s why I no longer am: www.hirschworks.com/goodbye-ux-m... 1/x
Photo of a sun-dappled pedestrian crossing on an empty road, featuring a somewhat camouflaged black and white cat in quiet repose lying across one of the white stripes, probably contemplating the meaning of life, the pros and cons of a progressive tax system, or its next meal. Or something.
Well I suppose for my first ever post here, while I’m thinking of something interesting to say, it seems only fair to Do The Thing The Internet Was Invented For. Although you may have to look carefully to spot it, what with it being so well camouflaged etc. :-)
