I think that's true but also having real passion for a series can make things turn out way better than when you're forcing yourself to, some of your best work is when you really care about the source material - my choice would be Yugi though Death Note is something that's popular and you'd do well

I kind of feel that rather than asking people what they most want to see, the best way around representing anime is to find a show that *you* personally really fuck with because you're more likely to pull it off in a way that really does it justice instead of just doing it because you feel you must
