The latest Working Draft of WCAG 3 is out today! w3.org/TR/wcag3/
In this version, we've:
- moved lots of requirements to “Developing” phase,
- wrote down how to test,
- mapped reqs to user needs (using DAF),
- split out 'applies when' and 'except when' to massively increase readability

Quick note to remind everyone that tomorrow is the first day of axe-con 2026, a free accessibility conf organized by @deque.com. A fantastic opportunity to dive into topics of #accessibility and #InclusiveDesign. Do you want to learn more?, join at www.deque.com/axe-con/ #axecon #a11y #a11d
Saying #accessibility is an "enhancement" for web or mobile content is like saying flour enhances a cake. Accessibility is essential, a key ingredient that ensures web and mobile content is usable for everyone. #a11y #a11d
It would definitely #accessibility :) And of course, I would love to share some knowledge about it as a speaker (wink wink) ;)
Let's give some love to something that important as Accessibility, we don't give it the importance that it deserves!
We'll be getting multiple outlines in #CSS!!
Multiple outlines means no more hacking our way around accessible and creative outline styles with box-shadows that aren't rendered in forced-colors mode! 🙌
Finally!! This is such great news!! 🎉🥳
Into web development, too?
I’ve just released updates (and new covers) for nearly all of my books 📚

Awesome!!! Thanks @laurakalbag.bsky.social ;)
My book, Accessibility For Everyone, is now free and online as a website.
accessibilityforeveryone.site
The book was first published by A Book Apart in 2017 but it holds up! It covers web accessibility for designers, developers, content folks, and really everyone who works in tech.
Today I saw a piece of code that reminded me that design systems should be "accessibility ready" (they are not accessible per se). It's crucial to include accessibility from the start. It ensures everyone can enjoy seamless experiences. #accessibility #a11y #a11d
¿Queréis saber cómo testear la accesibilidad de vuestras webs?
Este vídeo de la @commitconf es un buen ejemplo
At the point in my accessibility career where I think I’d be net more effective at advocacy by breaking people’s hands than asking them to please, please, please use heading elements.

If you have not done it yet, you can still vote for #Lingvano as Community Choice in the @expo app awards
They are a Viennese startup with an #a11y app to learn sign languages trying to break barriers and help people connect with Deaf family, friends, colleagues and neighbors #Deaf #accessibility
One of my favourite #a11y apps to learn sign languages made it to the TOP 3 of the "Community's Choice" @expo.dev awards.
I can only ask for your vote for Lingvano to help them continue with their mission of helping you connect with Deaf family members and friends.

Hidde de Vries speaking on ARIA, the Good Parts at Pixel Pioneers Bristol 2025
Sometimes, the right use of ARIA can improve your UI for end users.

If a UI element is interactive, exposed to AT, needs event listeners, needs role/aria customisation, and needs programmatic focus. It should be in HTML. It's frustrating this is a conversation that even needs to be had.
A park in Vienna full of snow. I am walking towards the end of the park. A sentence saying “13 years in Vienna”
A view of the skyline of Vienna. I am standing looking at the view. A sentence saying “13 years in Vienna”
Today it’s my 13th anniversary since I moved to Vienna (Austria)…damn, time flies!!!
This was pushed out with a rushed security review, a coerced and unwilling engineering team, and in full opposition to our supposed company values.
If you don't want it, tell them. Social media and support forums. Leadership won't listen to employees. github.blog/changelog/20...
What an amazing article about how convenience is killing curiosity by @joanwestenberg.com. Great read!
"[...] adult curiosity is not a default state. It must be cultivated. And right now, the culture of convenience is starving it."
