The reason I account for the 10th and 15th anniversary books is because Yokoyama and the others have stated they base their writing for newer games on them rather than on the games themselves lol but yeah Daigo in particular has never been one for titles with Mine

As for using JP terms, we'll see! JP terms that aren't commonly used in the localization are less accessible to English-speaking audiences so if it's determined to be referring to the oyakosakazuki I think we'll most likely just drop the tag, since it isn't noted for any other direct patriarch.

So it could very well be that it changed over time, but even if so, it wasn't necessarily always the intent and whether or not the tag stays after discussion I expect it's going to need a note attached.

The 10th anniversary and 15th anniversary books (15th accounts for RGGO, where K3DT gets this from although heavily changed) are also in conflict on this because 10th states they swore that oath after the officiation while 15th places it earlier.

I'm going to run it by the wiki server! Personally I'm just not convinced that Date would have mentioned it if it were the oyakosakazuki to officiate the Hakuho Clan because every direct patriarch has to swear that oath, so it doesn't make sense as a way to differentiate Mine from the others to me.

That said I think a CGI movie would be cool! I'd just prefer it be an original story or at least an adaptation of a much shorter story than Mine's cause it's just kind of disappointing For Me to see the most intricate and interconnected storyline in RGGO cut down that much even if it still works

Plus I've seen how it affects interpretations of K3's ending too 'cause it has a very different vibe if you actually get to see it as the culmination of Mine's internal conflict about protecting Kiryu and making amends for manipulating Hamazaki into stabbing him but those arcs are just gone

Like DT is better-received than K3 and that's good for Mine fr but the unanimous complaint is that it's incredibly shallow and short so I think people do sense that incompleteness even if they're not familiar with RGGO, if it were me I'd rather have made DT a full-length standalone Gaiden

No yeah it's a fantastic adaptation of the parts it does adapt it's just verrrrrry incomplete and I think it sucks that the whole story won't get to be seen in the same way those parts were (on top of the side content somehow communicating less about Mine himself than RGGO's minimal equivalent)

But I actually think if Dark Ties had been a CGI movie like it was originally intended to it would be an even worse product, a core problem with Dark Ties IMO is that it only adapts 2.5/7 RGGO Mine stories and doesn't flesh them out properly at that but still relies heavily upon their context

The NHT crew did a great job within their schedule and budget! The collab suits RGG perfectly because the original Yakuza was meant to fill the v-cine niche in the medium of gaming and NHT is the best and most popular v-cine franchise out there right now hehe

I don’t think his beef is necessarily with RGG adaptations in specific but I do think he’s speaking from experience lol
