One thing I don't like is that when you finish a long (~2 hour) block of work, it gives you a big spike of points at the end

Yeah 100%. Imo I prefer the tasks disappearing for a cleaner ui. But I agree there should be an intuitive way of quickly checking what you've achieved in a day. It's something I'm working on incorporating into my app

I’m curious which #UX style people prefer for completed tasks:

(1) Todoist, where tasks vanish for a cleaner UI

(2) Google Tasks, which keeps them in “Completed” for that sense of achievement.
